Friday Favorites: Books + Tacos
There’s something about little weekly favourites that just makes life feel extra cozy, you know? The kind of moments that aren’t big or dramatic, but still make you pause and think, okay, that was really nice. This week felt like a mix of trying new things, leaning into small routines, and enjoying a few simple treats – aka my favourite kind of week.

This week I put Suits You Swell by Essie on my nails, and I absolutely love this lilac colour. I can’t remember the last time I wore it, but clearly I need to bring it back into my regular rotation. It feels so soft and springy, even though it’s still very much winter here. Sometimes a fresh nail colour is all it takes to feel a little more put together.

I also took a trip to the library this week and came home with a pretty good stack of books. I picked up a mix of genres, including a couple I don’t usually reach for – Mate (romantasy) and Breathe the Sky (romance). My usual go to genres are historical fiction, thrillers, and classic literature, so this felt like a bit of a shift for me. But honestly, it felt like the right time to experiment. I’ve been hearing so much about Mate on Bookstagram lately, so I’m really looking forward to seeing what all the hype is about.

Midweek, I met my boyfriend downtown for lunch, which always feels like such a nice little break in the routine. We ended up at Birria Cantina for tacos. It’s one of those places we’ve only been to a couple of times, but always talk about going back to more often. I ordered the pastor chicken tacos, and they came with little pieces of pineapple. I wasn’t totally sure how I felt about that at first, but it actually worked so well. Sweet and savoury is always a good idea, apparently.
Overall, this week felt like a reminder that you don’t need anything over the top to make your days feel full. A fresh set of nails, a stack of new books, and really good tacos? That’s more than enough for me. I’m trying to lean into these small, happy moments a little more and maybe make them a bit of a weekly tradition.
