Weekend Recap

It’s been one of those weekends that felt equal parts relaxing and refreshing — the perfect mix of downtime, comfort food, and little moments that made me smile. I didn’t do anything big or exciting, but honestly, those are often my favorite kinds of weekends. Here’s what I got up to!

I spent my Friday night at home, watching TV and reading.

With the new (and final!) season of Stranger Things coming out later this month, I decided to revisit some of my favorite episodes from earlier seasons. I started with the very first episode – it’s wild how nostalgic it feels to go back to where it all began.

I’d read an interview with Millie Bobby Brown where she said that fans of the first season will really enjoy the last one too. That makes me so happy because the first season is still my favorite. I’m really hoping the show ends on a high note and doesn’t disappoint.

After watching Stranger Things, I continued reading The Darkling Bride by Laura Andersen. It took a little while to get to know all of the family members in the story, but once I did, it became so much more interesting. The mystery has me hooked! I think I’ve figured out who did it, but I’ll keep that to myself for now.

I got to sleep in on Saturday morning, which felt seriously indulgent! I needed it after a rough night’s sleep (thanks to some not so great dreams).

In the afternoon, I headed over to my boyfriend’s place. A new bakery opened nearby, so we decided to check it out. Unfortunately, we got there a little late in the day and most of the baked goods were already gone – lesson learned! I’ll have to go back earlier next time. I did grab a hot chocolate though, and it was delicious.

For dinner, we picked up a couple of pizzas (Hawaiian and barbecue chicken) and a salad from Sunterra to share. The pizzas were individual sized, so we each had a bit of both along with the salad. Everything was so good, and there were even leftovers for him to enjoy later.

Since baseball season is officially over – and our bandwagon cheering for the Jays has ended – we switched gears to hockey. My boyfriend’s favorite team is Boston, and they were playing Toronto that night. He was happy because Boston won.

Meanwhile, Winston spent most of the evening snoozing away. At one point, he looked too cozy (and maybe too lazy) to even move from the floor to one of his beds.

Sunday was a slow, easy kind of day. I got a bit of cleaning and laundry done around the house, and by midday, I was craving some Greek food.

I ended up ordering from Opa and got a platter with a little bit of everything – chicken souvlaki, potatoes, pita, Greek salad, and rice. It was so good, though I couldn’t finish it all!

That evening, Mother Nature ended the weekend on a beautiful note with a stunning sunset. It always amazes me how quickly the sky changes colors – from soft pinks to fiery oranges – and then suddenly, it’s all gone.

All in all, it was such a nice, slow paced weekend. Between cozy nights in, great food, and a few small moments that made me smile, it was exactly what I needed before diving into a new week. Share a highlight of your weekend below, I’d love to hear about it.
