Friday Favorites: Tea + Halloween Decorations

I love putting together Friday Favorites posts because they’re a chance to slow down, reflect, and share a few of the little things that have made me smile this week. Sometimes it’s a cozy drink, a small joy from a walk, or a random find while running errands – but those are exactly the things that make everyday life feel special. Here’s what’s been bringing me joy lately.

Earlier this week, I made a quick trip to Costco for a few essentials – and of course, ended up wandering through the seasonal aisles. It’s only October, but they already have a ton of Christmas stuff out. I spotted a massive Lindt advent calendar that immediately caught my eye. It was nearly as tall as me and priced at $250!

While I love Lindt chocolate (especially those creamy truffles), that’s definitely not in my budget. Still, I couldn’t help but admire it – the doors were the size of my hand. It’s the kind of over-the-top thing that only Costco could pull off, and I kind of love that about them.

It got me thinking about how much I enjoy advent calendars in general. There’s something so fun about counting down to Christmas day by day, even as an adult. It brings back so many fun memories of Christmas as a child.

Last night I was craving something cozy before bed, so I made a mug of my current favorite, Silent Night. It’s a beautiful blend of orange, cinnamon, and clove, and it tastes like pure comfort in a cup. The warm spice combo instantly makes me think of autumn and winter nights, fuzzy blankets, and reading a good book before bed.

I’ve been trying to make a little nightly ritual out of my evening tea lately – slowing down, putting my phone away, and just enjoying the quiet. It’s such a simple thing, but it really helps me unwind after a long day.

The other night, I walked over to my community centre to volunteer. It’s only about a fifteen minute walk, but it was such a highlight because I got to admire all the Halloween decorations in my neighborhood. Some people really go all out – giant skeletons, glowing pumpkins, even an inflatable ghost!

There’s something about walking by those spooky decorations that sparks a bit of childlike joy. It brings back memories of trick-or-treating as a kid, the smell of fallen leaves, and that crisp fall air that makes everything feel cozy and magical.

I love hearing about the small things that make your week brighter, too! What’s been bringing you joy lately – maybe a favorite fall drink, a cozy ritual, or a fun decoration you’ve seen in your neighborhood? Share in the comments below or tag me on Instagram @getfitfiona.
