7 Cozy Fall Activities to Do Instead of Scrolling
When the weather turns crisp and the days get shorter, it’s so easy to fall into the habit of endless scrolling. Or at least it is for me. But fall is the perfect time to slow down, be present, and enjoy all the little things that make this season so comforting. If you’re craving something that feels cozier than your phone screen, here are seven cozy fall activities to embrace the autumn vibes – no scrolling required.
Reading with a cozy blanket

There’s something extra special about curling up with a good book when it’s chilly outside. In fact, that’s how I spent my Saturday night – reading The Haunting of Hill House under a blanket with a candle lit and a playlist on Spotify. Sometimes the simplest evenings end up being the most relaxing.
Baking something
Muffins, bread, cookies – they’re all delicious. At this time of year, if it has cinnamon in it, I’m sold. Some of my favorite things to bake are pound cakes (so simple but so delicious), chocolate chip cookies, and sourdough bread. This sourdough focaccia recipe I love always turns out perfectly! Baking in the fall just feels extra cozy, especially when the kitchen smells like warm spices.
Going for a crisp fall walk

The leaves, the cooler air, the crunch under my shoes – it’s the best time to be outside. The colors are stunning this time of year, and the temperature is perfect for a few cozy layers. There’s something refreshing about being outdoors before the snow arrives, soaking in those last golden days of autumn.
Making a warm drink at home

An herbal tea, hot chocolate, or apple cider feels like a hug in a mug. I’m not a coffee drinker (shocker, I know), but there are still plenty of hot drinks for me to enjoy. I only started drinking tea a few years ago, but it’s become a favorite ritual. Hot chocolate has always been a classic – especially topped with marshmallows or peppermint – and apple cider just feels extra indulgent in fall.
Playing a card or board game
This is the perfect way to spend a chilly fall evening with friends or family. Some of my favorite games include Pit, Skip-Bo, Settlers of Catan, and Ticket to Ride. If you’re looking for a fun game to play with kids who can’t read yet (but is still entertaining for adults), try Spot It! – it’s always a hit.
Trying a new soup or stew recipe

Fall is the season of hearty, cozy meals. The ultimate comfort food, in my opinion, is a big bowl of chicken noodle soup. I make it pretty regularly this time of year, usually paired with crackers or fresh buns. I love this recipe from Budget Bytes – it’s simple, filling, and full of flavor. Soups and stews are the kind of meals that make you feel at home instantly.
Visiting a local farmer’s market or pumpkin patch

It’s such a fun way to get outside and soak up the season. There’s something that just feels right about wandering the stalls at a farmer’s market on a weekend morning. Buying local produce and then cooking or baking with it later is always satisfying. And visiting a pumpkin patch – searching for the perfect pumpkin to carve for Halloween – brings back so many happy childhood memories.
Fall only lasts for a short while, so make the most of it with moments that help you slow down and savor the season. Whether you’re sipping something warm, reading under a blanket, or taking in the crisp, fall air, these cozy fall activities are a gentle reminder that the best memories often happen offline.
