Weekly Recap

I can’t believe how quickly this week flew by! It was a mix of cozy fall moments, errands, some fun outings, and plenty of good food. I always enjoy looking back at what I got up to during the week – it’s such a nice reminder of the little joys that make up everyday life. Here’s a peek at what my past week looked like.
Monday
I started off my week with breakfast and blogging. While sipping on my protein shake (I’ve been using the same protein powder for years now and still love it), I got to work on writing.

My post Cozy Wellness Habits to Kick Off Fall was such a fun one to put together. If you’re looking for actionable tips to refresh your routines this season, definitely check it out!

By the time I finished, it was already lunchtime. I made myself a salad. My current go to included greens, cucumber, sliced black olives, marble cheese, tomato, dried cranberries, and pumpkin seeds, with some cheese-flavored rice crackers on the side. Somehow, I’m not tired of it yet.
Tuesday
Most of Tuesday was spent running errands, which honestly isn’t my favorite way to spend a day. Things always take longer than I expect, and being in the car for so much of the day isn’t exactly fun.
For dinner, I whipped up black bean quesadillas using a recipe from Budget Bytes. They were quick, easy, and so good! I’ve made them a few times now, and they always turn out perfectly. Since I’ve been leaning more plant-based, I love that the black beans add so much protein and flavor. You don’t even miss the meat!
That evening, I headed to Girl Guides. We still have a small group of youth members, which has been nice because it means I’ve had the chance to really get to know them. I’m still working on remembering everyone’s names though – I’m so bad with names!
Wednesday
I had a much-needed haircut with my favorite stylist, Alannah, at Blue Aurora Studio. My hair had gotten really long (my last cut was a year ago!) and it was such a pain to blow dry. I told her I wanted it significantly shorter, no bangs, and then let her work her magic. I’m so glad I did – it turned out great!

Haircuts used to be tough for me because of lingering body image struggles after my eating disorder, but Alannah has been such a supportive stylist. She lets me face away from the mirror during the cut, which makes the whole experience much easier. The best part? I never feel judged by her, and I’m so grateful I found someone so understanding.
Since I was already downtown, I met up with my boyfriend and joined him and his dog Winston for their afternoon walk. The cooler fall weather is perfect for Winston. English Bulldogs overheat easily with their potato-shaped bodies, so he was very happy to stroll in the crisp air.
For dinner, I finished off the leftover black bean quesadillas. If possible, they tasted even better the next day after all the flavors had a chance to blend together.
Thursday
I was supposed to meet a friend for a walk, but she texted in the morning to say she wasn’t feeling well. While I was bummed to miss catching up, I completely understood. Being sick and congested is no fun. Instead, I worked on my Friday Favorites blog post.

Later in the day, my dad surprised me with a bag of Hawkins Cheezies. If you’re not Canadian, you might not have heard of them before, but they’re so good. They also make me think of my old boss, Pat, who I worked for for 15 years and absolutely loved them. Now, every time I have Cheezies, I think of her.
Friday
Friday was mostly a workday filled with blog and social media tasks. When it came to dinner, I made chicken noodle soup – one of the coziest fall meals, in my opinion. I used a Budget Bytes recipe but made a couple of shortcuts: store-bought chicken broth and pre-shredded rotisserie chicken from the grocery store. Honestly, it was still delicious, and I didn’t regret the time saved one bit.

The evening was quiet and cozy, just the way this introvert likes it. I made myself a cup of tea (orange, cinnamon, and cloves – so good!) and curled up with my Kindle. I’m currently reading Nestlings, which has been the perfect creepy book heading into October. I’m not finished yet, but so far, I’d definitely recommend it.
Saturday
Sleeping in on Saturday felt amazing! I’d had a few rough nights of sleep thanks to a sore shoulder, so being able to wake up without an alarm was such a treat.
I spent the day with my boyfriend. We picked up a chicken meal from Sunterra that came with rotisserie chicken, veggies, roasted potatoes, and buns. It was advertised as feeding four for $20, but realistically it was more like a meal for two (with leftovers for him). Either way, it was delicious and required zero effort besides walking to the store.
That evening we watched Wolfs with George Clooney and Brad Pitt. Honestly, the movie itself was just okay, but it was still entertaining. And can we take a moment to appreciate how George Clooney somehow just keeps getting better looking with age?

Once it was dark, we walked over to check out Night Light, a yearly outdoor art event. This was its third year, but it was the first time I’d heard of it. Over six or seven blocks downtown, there were temporary art installations. We saw two of them: a giant light-up tic-tac-toe wall (complete with a DJ) and massive inflatable planets that glowed in the dark. Both were so cool, and I’d definitely go again next year.

Wrapping Up the Week
And that’s a wrap on my week! Looking back, it was such a nice mix of productivity, cozy meals, quality time with people I love, and even a little adventure downtown. Weeks like this remind me how important it is to enjoy the small moments just as much as the big ones.
I’d love to know, what was the highlight of your week? Let me know in the comments below!
