20 Minute Cardio Workout

Today I’m sharing an all new 20 minute cardio workout on the blog.

Before I share the details on this workout, I wanted to share some volunteering I did earlier this week.

Every summer Girl Guides puts on a week long summer camps for youth members. The past few summers I’ve volunteered an entire week. It’s a lot of fun, and so great to see the campers experience new things and learn lots. Due to a few different things, I was only able to help out one day this year. I’m so happy I made it happen though because I had so much fun.

A white woman wearing black sunglasses and a tan floppy sun hat is taking a smiling selfie wearing a blue jacket. She's standing outdoors, surrounded by green grass, trees, a picnic table, and a building in the distance.

The day I was there the campers were doing archery, making their own bars of soap, and cooking their own dinners of chicken stir fry. I was only at camp for 11 hours, but I left exhausted. I have no idea how I managed to help out at camp for an additional 6 days previous years. Honestly though, all the hard work is worth it. I made so many fun memories at camp when I was a youth member. I’m happy to give back and make sure others get an opportunity to make similar memories.

If you’re short on time but still want to squeeze in a workout, this 20-minute cardio session is just what you need. Whether you’re fitting it in before work, during your lunch break, or after a busy day, it’s designed to get your heart rate up and leave you feeling accomplished – all in under half an hour. No fancy equipment or gym membership required. A little space, some motivation, and that’s all you need. So this is a great workout to do at home because all you need is a yoga mat.

A woman is crouched down on a yoga mat with her laptop computer wearing workout clothes. There are dumbbells next to her on the yoga mat. The text reads "20 minute cardio workout".

Perform each exercise for 30 seconds followed by 30 seconds of rest. Repeat 4 times through for a full workout.

  • Side shuffles
  • High knees
  • Burpees
  • Skaters
  • Mountain climbers

And just like that, your workout is done! Sometimes we think we need an hour or more at the gym to get in a “real” workout, but this quick cardio session proves otherwise. It’s all about making the most of the time you have. And your body will thank you for showing up, even if it’s just for 20 minutes. Keep this workout in your back pocket for busy days or whenever you need a pick-me-up. It’s perfect for busy days when you can’t make it to the gym.

If you enjoyed this quick cardio session, I have even more workouts you can try depending on your mood and energy level. For something a bit more intense, check out my full body HIIT workout. It’s a great way to get your heart pumping quickly. If you’re in the mood for a workout more focused on strength training, this loswer body strength training workout is perfect for working your lower body. And for a well-rounded option, give my full body workout a try to target all your major muscle groups. And of course, you can find all of my workouts I’ve shared on GFF over the years on my workouts page.
