What I Read May 2025
In today’s blog post I’m sharing what I read this month.
I read some really great books this month. I was on a roll and that doesn’t always happen. I share what I read over on Instagram throughout the month, so be sure to follow me over there if you like book recommendations.

Weather Girl by Rachel Lynn Solomon
This was a cute romance without being too lovey dovey. I really liked the main character, which doesn’t always happen in romances for me. If you’re not typically into romance, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by this one.

I also liked that while it felt like everything was tied up at the end of the book, it wasn’t a perfect fairy tale ending. I really liked that it was more realistic rather than perfect.
Tell Me Everything by Elizabeth Strout
This is the second book I’ve read by Elizabeth Strout, and I loved this one just as much as the first one. It centers on the lives of a few seniors. While it’s not an age group that I usually read about, I really enjoyed it anyways.

The interesting thing about reading books about people who are older is that they have a different POV and are able to look back on their lives, which lets them make different choices than younger characters.
Lady in Waiting by Anne Glenconner
It was interesting to read about the history and behind the scenes of the British royal family in this memoir. Anne was good friends with Princess Margaret as children, and that friendship continued on throughout Princess Margaret’s life.

It didn’t take long for me to be annoyed with the author’s husband though – he’s everything people hate about aristocrats.
Witchcraft For Wayward Girls by Grady Hendrix
This was definitely my favorite book that I read this month. I HIGHLY recommend reading it. Everything about it is just so good. It’s set in the rural south during the 1970’s at a house for teen moms. Needless to say, things were much different back then.

Add in some witchcraft and a bit of the paranormal and you have a book that I couldn’t put down. There was just enough paranormal elements to keep me interested while will being well grounded in reality.
Tea & Treachery by Vicki Delaney
I’ve read a few other mysteries by Vicki Delaney that I really enjoyed. Unfortunately this one didn’t live up to the others I’ve read. It felt like the first book in a series, and felt like I only really got to know the characters by the end of the book.

I’m currently undecided if I’ll be reading any of the other books in this series. I really loved her Catskill Summer Mystery series.
