Peppermint Hot Chocolate

I’m back on the blog just in time to post a festive recipe for Christmas – peppermint hot chocolate.

If you’re anything like me a warm drink is the perfect thing to warm you up. Not only is tea, apple cider, or hot chocolate delicious, but it also adds a bit of cozy to my day. It’s those little things that add some fun to my day.

I had a job for nearly 15 years with an amazing boss. She loved her hot chocolate. Like really loved it – with lots and lots of mini marshmallows. According to her, it was the only way to drink hot chocolate. One cold and snowy day she come out to where I was working and asks if I would like a hot chocolate. I accept, of course. A few minutes later she brings me out a mug that’s 2/3 hot chocolate and the other 1/3 mini marshmallows. She figured that if she likes hers with lots of marshmallows everyone else would too. I obviously drank it – you don’t turn down a drink that was made with that kind of care. It was pretty cute. Now whenever I drink a hot chocolate I think of her and her love of marshmallows in hot chocolate.

There’s just something about the combination of chocolate and peppermint that feels extra festive this time of year. Whether you’re cozying up with a good book, watching your favorite holiday movie, or hosting a gathering with friends, this peppermint hot chocolate is the perfect treat to have in hand.

I love how easy this recipe is to make at home—no need to head to the coffee shop when you can whip this up in just a few minutes in your own kitchen. Plus, you can customize it however you like. Want it extra chocolatey? Add a bit more cocoa. Prefer a stronger peppermint flavor? Just add another drop or two of peppermint extract. And of course, the toppings are half the fun. Whipped cream, crushed candy canes, chocolate shavings—they all make it feel a little more special.
