In today’s post I’m sharing what’s going on in my life over the past month.
Volunteering with Girl Guides
I’ve decided to volunteer with Girl Guides again this year. Some girls have moved on (to other branches of guiding or other after school activities). Quite a few have come back for another year. Now that we’re a few meetings into the year it’s fun to see the girls come out of their shell and make friends. Last weekend I helped out with a Brownie day camp. They had lots of fun learning about how to
We’re planning a weekend camp in a few weeks which the girls are very excited about. It’ll be my first time helping to organize a camp, so I’m expecting it to be a lot of work. On the other hand I think it’ll be a lot of fun. I have so many good memories of Girl Guide camps as a kid, I’m excited about being able to provide a similar experience to our girls.
Fall is my favorite season so I’m soaking up the cooler days. I love the colors of the changing leaves, getting cozy in sweaters and throw blankets, and cooler temperatures. Yesterday I spent some time sitting in the backyard reading. I put on a hoodie, got a fire going in our little fire pit, and read The Family Remains (affiliate link). It was a wonderful way to spend an hour and a half. Here in Canada we celebrate Thanksgiving in October, so I’m looking forward to that coming up. It’s my favorite holiday. It has all kinds of delicious food without all the pressure of having the “perfect gift” for everyone like at Christmas.
This weekend I have a first aid recertification course. Thankfully it’s only one day because my certification hasn’t hasn’t expired yet. I’ll be glad once it’s done. It’s never very exciting to be spending a nice Saturday inside. I’m hoping the day goes by quickly!
Let me know in the comments what the highlight of September was for you.
