Today I’m sharing a recap of my weekend.
Friday
Friday night I prepared for Brownie day camp on Saturday. While I don’t volunteer with Brownies, I did volunteer to help out at their day camp. Another set of hands is never a bad thing with seven and eight year-olds. I did the campfire portion of the day with another guider, so I had to get together all of my fire starting stuff that I thought the Brownies would be interested in. The last time I had it all out was back in July, so it took awhile to get it all in one box again.
I also watched Four Brothers. I was in need of some quality time on the couch and it was the perfect movie to watch. It didn’t require too much thought and there was enough action to keep me interested.
Saturday
I arrived bright and early at camp (we’re so lucky to have a great Girl Guide owned camp just 30 minutes away from Calgary) to help set up. It was the perfect fall day to spend time outdoors. While it was a bit chilly in the morning, by the afternoon it had warmed up enough to to take my fleece off. The girls made and then went through an obstacle course, made fairies, learned about fires, cooked hot dogs and smores over the fire, went on a fairy walk with the fairies they’d made, and generally had a lot of fun. While there were a few tears over the course of the day, all the Brownies went home with smiles on their faces.
I was exhausted when I got home just before five. I had absolutely no energy to cook, so I’m grateful that there was a sheet pan dinner waiting for me. It was an Octoberfest themed meal, so we had brats, roasted red cabbage, and roasted potatoes. It was delicious.
Sunday
I slept in and ended up getting up late. It felt so good though. I had gotten in 15,000 steps the day before so apparently I needed some extra sleep. I spent Sunday relaxing and getting ready for the week. I’m currently reading Anna Karenina (affiliate link) and The Family Remains (affiliate link), so I was able to read a bit from both of them. The weather is perfect right now to sit in the backyard and read.
What was the highlight of your weekend?
