Today I thought I’d share some of the books that I’ve read over the last little while.
The Girl You Left Behind
I’m a huge fan of Jojo Moyes’ writing, so I expected to really like The Girl You Left Behind (affiliate link). It follows the story of a woman who works in France during the German occupation, and the fine line of working against the Germans while also staying safe. If you’re a fan of WWII historical fiction I would really recommend it.
The Third Wife
Lisa Jewell is another author that I enjoy reading. I find her thrillers hard to put down, and “one more chapter” turns into another 100 pages. Whoops. The Third Wife was just as good as her other ones. The Third Wife (affiliate link) keeps you guessing about what’s going on. It’s the perfect book to take on vacation with you and get lost in it while sitting on the beach.
The Night She Disappeared
This is the latest book by Lisa Jewell. The Night She Disappeared (affiliate link) follows the disappearance of a single mom. Her mom searches desperately to figure out what happened to her, as her disappearance is out of character for her. The book is set in a small English town as well as in a boarding school in that town. Being Canadian, it’s always fun to read about different stories set in different places.
The Beach Club
It’s not summer without an Elin Hilderbrand book. Just like all of her other books, this one is also a great beach read. It pulls you in right from the beginning and is easy to read and keeps you entertained. The Beach Club (affiliate link) follows the lives of the people who work at a beach club on Nantucket.
The Curse of Oak Island
The tv show Oak Island has been a guilty pleasure of mine for years. While I’m doubtful that they’ll ever find anything on Oak Island, let alone treasure, it’s still fun to watch. I decided to finally read the book (affiliate link). I’m about half way through and I’m learning a lot. The tv show shares bits and pieces of the history, but the book takes a deep dive into it. There’s so much that’s hard to prove and therefore it’s tempting to want to believe it. If you’re a fan of the show I highly recommend the book.
