Today I’m sharing a few of my favorite things from the last week.
Seedlings
I’m so excited that most of the seeds that I planted back in February have germinated. There’s still a ton of snow on the ground it’ll be months before I can actually plant them in the garden outside. It does feel pretty good to see green things thriving though. It makes it feel like spring is just around the corner.
I planted a mix of vegetables (zucchini, pumpkin, tomatoes, peppers, cabbage, brussels sprouts, and swiss chard) and flowers (snapdragons, marigolds, zinnias, asters, and morning glories). I buy most of my seeds from Baker Creek. I’ve been getting seeds from them for over a decade now and I’ve been really happy with everything that I’ve bought. I also haven’t had a problem with shipping them over the border from the US to Canada.
Open Book by Jessica Simpson
I borrowed Open Book (affiliate link) from the library last week and finally started reading it a few days ago. While I wasn’t a big fan of her music in the late 90’s and early 2000’s, I do remember watching her reality TV show with her then husband Nick Lachey. Does anyone else remember the chicken of the sea conversation?
Reading her book, I now realized that I made a lot of assumptions about her. I definitely fell for what her music label and the media were pushing. It’s an easy book to read that doesn’t take too much thought. I’m actually reading it a lot faster than I thought I would. I keep telling myself, “just one more chapter”.
As for the weekend, I don’t have much planned. I’ll most likely spend some time with my boyfriend. It’s also supposed to be pretty nice over the next few days with warmer temperatures, so I’m sure I’ll end up spending some time outdoors to soak up the sunshine. After the long, cold winter we had here in Calgary, the sunshine feels so good!
Do you have a garden? What’s the last celebrity book you read?
