Today I’m sharing a few things that I’ve been enjoying this week.

This week started out nice and warm and ended cold and snowy. I suppose it’s not bad considering there’s only one full week of November left, but it’s still a tough transition into the winter months.

I don’t have much planned for the weekend since we’re still under enhanced restrictions here in Calgary. With cases rising and a lot of uncertainty about where some of those cases are coming from, it’s feeling quite scary right now. As much as I would like to be spending time with my boyfriend and friends that I haven’t seen in months, I know that I need to do my part to stay home. I keep thinking that if I sacrifice right now I’ll be able to enjoy getting together with my favorite people down the road.

My most recent nail polish purchase is on my nails this week. I bought Essie’s IRL (affiliate link) a week or two ago. Now that I’ve had it on for a week I feel like I can say that it’s one of my favorite Essie colors so far! Purple is one of my favorite colors, so I’m a bit surprised that it’s taken me this long to buy a purple nail polish. I also love that it’s from the Expressie line, so it dries quicker than their main line of nail polishes. For someone who has a hard time sitting still, it’s a feature that I really appreciate. Once again it went on well with good coverage just like other Essie products I’ve used. I put on one layer of base coat (affiliate link), 2 of IRL, and one of top coat in the below photo.

I’ve been reading Anti Diet (affiliate link) by Christy Harrison lately. I’ve heard lots of good things about it, so I was excited when I got to the top of the hold list at my library. It’s really interesting to read about how much diet culture permeates everything in our society. From small talk to TV shows/movies to social media. It’s been really eye opening to read about how much money is involved in the diet/wellness industry too. While I knew there was obviously a lot of money at stake, I didn’t realize how deep that influence goes.

There’s a lot that I’m still trying to wrap my head around still. I’m not even done reading it yet and it’s caused me to have quite a few moments where I really have to re-think some things. Christy Harrison also had a podcast called Food Psych that has been recommended to me. I listened to a few episodes last winter, but now that I’m reading her book I think I’ll have to go back to listening to her podcast too.

Has anyone else been watching season four of The Crown on Netflix? It was released on Sunday and I’ve been slowly (or at least as slowly as I can) watching the season. I’ll have watched all of them before I even realize it and I want to make them last as long as possible. I’m really liking getting a glimpse into the relationship between Princess Diana and Prince Charles. I can’t even imagine what the transition would have been like from “regular person” to royal. It would have to be so surreal.

Everything in The Crown is so good – from the costumes to the acting to the writing. Gillian Anderson is absolutely perfect as Margaret Thatcher. If you haven’t had a chance to check it out yet, I would highly recommend it. None of the seasons are too long so you’ll be able to catch up relatively quickly. I might be a bit envious that you can binge watch all 4 seasons right after each other.

Are you reading anything good right now? Have you watched The Crown?
