The snow has finally arrived in Calgary. While it happened later than usual I’m still not ready for it! I attended a full day first aid recertification course on Friday. As I was leaving when I was done someone told me merry Christmas as I leaving. As soon as I went past a window I understood why – the snow was coming down pretty good. Thankfully the snow hasn’t stuck to the roads too much until this morning. I have to admit that it is pretty on the trees. This was a pretty quiet weekend for me – mostly cause I didn’t want to venture out into the cold.

Saturday was all about errands, Winston the bulldog, and laundry. I had to go to the other end of the city to pick up something, so that was a good 50 minutes I spent in the car driving there. Calgary is such a spread out city. I was trying to figure out the last time I was in that neighborhood. I think it was close to 10 years ago! I then stopped at my boyfriend’s place to get in some quality time with him and his dog. Winston is all about getting attention. He spent most of the time that I was there sitting on me. Because sitting next to me just isn’t close enough. I was more than happy to oblige.

I had a tough time picking which nail polish to go with this weekend, so I took the question to Instagram. Purple was the winner of the poll, so that’s what I went with. This was my first time using the Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear nail polish since high school in the late 90’s/early 2000’s. All I’ll say is that there’s a reason why it’s only 1/3 the price of my favorite Essie nail polish. After three coats it was a still streaky. Oh well, I guess it made me realize how much I like my usual Essie (affiliate link).

Sunday was cold and snowy. I didn’t even leave the house other than to pick up my weekly grocery store order. I was all about staying warm and cozy so that means a couple of cozy layers of a t-shirt and a flannel plaid shirt and slippers. My feet are always cold so I’m always trying to keep them nice and warm.

I recently got to the top of the hold list for Stealing Home (affiliate link). It’s the first book in a series that the Netflix series Sweet Magnolias is based on. I really enjoyed the Netflix series ( shared about it here), so when I saw that my library had the books I knew I wanted to read them. In my experience books are always better than the TV shows/movies that are made of them, and so far Stealing Home by Sherryl Woods doesn’t disappoint. It has the same light hearted feel that the Netflix series has so it’s an easy read which is perfect.

This week is shaping up to be a busy one. I have a couple of appointments tomorrow and another one on Thursday. I also want to get a head start on a few blogging things that I’m excited about. It’s hard to believe that we’re already into the second half of October!

Is the weather changing where you live? Have you watched Sweet Magnolias on Netflix?
