It’s hard to believe that I’ve been blogging for nearly a decade now! My very first post back on September 26, 2011 feels like such a long time ago now. I feel like so much has changed in the past nine years. My life is so different now compared to back then.

Since I started my blog I’ve become a lot healthier. I’ve lost weight. My workouts feel like second nature when back when I started blogging I needed all the motivation I could get to workout regularly. My cardiovascular endurance is the best it’s ever been. I can deadlift and squat. According to my Fitbit my V02 is now between very good and excellent. It probably would have been back in the fair category before.

I discovered that I have a passion for fitness, healthy living, and wellness through my blog. As I spent more time working out and eating better, I wanted to have more knowledge. There’s so much misinformation on the the internet, social media, and the gym. It was important for me to have accurate information. So I went back to school at Mount Royal University in 2015 for two years to earn a diploma in personal trainer. Two years of full time post secondary education is no small feat. I was able to apply for Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology membership with my diploma, which I’m very proud of.

After thinking about it for years, I finally decided to do my 200 hour yoga teacher training in 2018/2019. It had been in the back of my mind for a long time – even before I went back to school for my diploma. I went into yoga teacher training thinking that I would be learning about anatomy, cuing poses, and how to put together a class. While I did learn those things, I also learned a lot about myself. I wasn’t expecting the personal growth part to happen.

In 2019 I started my own business teaching yoga and doing personal training. I never would have thought in a million years that I would be someone who would be an entrepreneur. While it’s definitely been difficult having a new business during a pandemic, I’m slowly but surely figuring things out and pivoting to make my business work online.

I don’t think I would have gotten healthier, gone back to school, take yoga teacher training, or started my business if I hadn’t discovered how passionate I was about healthy living with my blog.

Over the years of writing the blog social media has become a huge thing. I’m so grateful that I’ve been able to connect with some great organizations, companies, and people through Instagram and Facebook. Facebook had been around for awhile, but Twitter was pretty new and Instagram didn’t even exist. Now Tiktok is the place to be and video is super popular.

Finally, I need to say a big thank you to all of you! The people who read my blog, leave comments on my Instagram posts, and like my Facebook page make it a lot more fun to blog and be active on social media. You inspire me every day to stick with it and be healthy.
