Today I’m sharing a few of my favorite things from the past week.
It’s been another busy week full of lots of working on blog stuff, appointments, and registering for first aid classes. I have to re-certify my first aid every year, so I signed up for a class in October. I think this is the first thing that I’ve booked this far out since the pandemic began back in March. While it’s felt like it’s been go go go, it also feels good to be productive and know that things are (slowly but surely) moving in the right direction with the health stuff that I have going on.
And now onto some of my favorite things from the past week! Be sure to leave one or two of your favorites in the comments below.
Flowerista by Essie nail polish
I picked up this new shade of nail polish last week when I was at the drug store. Flowerista (affiliate link) is the perfect mix of purple and pink. I thought it was a nice color to help transition into autumn from summer.
This is one of those colors that you definitely need 2 or 3 coats of to get an even finish. I thought for sure I would be done with 2 coats, but it looks a lot better with 3. I finished it off with a coat of clear nail polish to keep is lasting a bit longer without chipping.
I really enjoyed watching Sweet Magnolias a few weeks ago, so I was on the hunt for something similar to watch on Netflix. Virgin River was recommended to me by a few people on Instagram when I asked for shows similar to Sweet Magnolias. I’m very grateful for the Instagram suggestions because I absolutely loved Virgin River too. It’s about a nurse who moves from LA to small town California and they people she meets – both through work and her social life.
Although there’s only 10 episodes in the first season, apparently there’s a season two in the works. I’m super excited to know that there will be more of this show to enjoy down the line.
Old Navy and Gap sale
A couple weekends ago Old Navy and Gap had a 40% off sale. Since I’ve lost some weight since last fall/winter, I figured that it was the perfect opportunity to stock up on some colder weather clothes. It makes such a big difference to be able to wear clothes in your size rather than a size or two too big. I’m always cold to I went for a couple button down flannel tops. I love the classic look of the plaid, and I’ve wanted a buffalo check shirt forever. Can you believe that this is the first one I’ve ever owned? I’m all about the blues and greens, so it’s not a surprise that that’s what I was drawn to. Here’s the green and blue one (affiliate link), pink stripe (affiliate link).
I also bought a couple pairs of joggers too. Since I figure we’ll be continuing to spend more time at home than out until there’s a vaccine, so I figured I’d get a couple pairs of joggers. I might as well be comfortable, right? I got a pair of black ones (affiliate link) as well as grey ones (affiliate link).
Mini Donut ice cream
I know I’ve shared about Village Ice Cream on the blog before. They’re a Calgary based ice cream company that makes the best ice cream. Fun fact: my boyfriend and I went to Village on one of our very first dates! It’s thanks to him that I know about Village. Every month they come up with a couple new limited time flavor that’s only available for the month. For September one of their seasonal flavors was mini donut.
I picked up a pint when I was downtown this week and it’s just as good as it sounds! Village makes all of the add-in’s that they put in their ice cream, and they hit it out of the park with the pieces of mini donut. It’s the perfect mix of sweetness and cinnamon in a vanilla ice cream base. If you’re in Calgary I highly recommend checking out this flavor before it disappears at the end of the month.
