I’m sharing some highlights from the month of August.
Once again it’s felt like another month has simultaneously flown by and crept by at the same time. It’s hard to wrap my head around the fact that it’s already September. How did that happen?!?! Summer is winding down and fall will be here before I know it.

Summer weather
I’ve been soaking in as much of the summer weather as I can over the last month. Summers feel so short and winters so long here in Calgary. I feel like I Need to take advantage of as much of the nice weather as I possibly can. That’s meant that I’ve been spending time in the backyard reading and going for walks around my neighborhood. I’m so grateful to have a beautiful backyard to take advantage of. We have quite a few big leafy trees so I can usually find a shady spot for my lawn chair at any point throughout the day. It’s the perfect setting to read. We have a ton of walking trails around my neighborhood and one neighborhood over. I’ve been taking advantage of lots of them.

There have also been quite a few dog walks with my boyfriend and his bulldog, Winston. It’s the perfect way to spend time together right now with the pandemic since we don’t live together. We can both wear masks and be outside while also being able to get lots of doggo time in.
Blog planning
I’ve also spent a lot of time this month planning content for the next few months. I’m super excited about what I have on my editorial calendar. Honestly sometimes blogging can feel a bit overwhelming with all of the things that it requires: writing blog posts, creating graphics, adding SEO to posts, being active on the different social media channels that I have associated with my blog. The list goes on and on.
I think planning is the toughest part for me though. If I don’t know what I want to write about then I end up feeling stuck and there’s nothing worse than staring at a blank screen having no idea how or where to start. Thankfully now that I have lots of ideas for content, it’ll be easier to actually get it made. If you have any suggestions of topic that you’d like to see on Get Fit Fiona, be sure to leave a comment below and I’ll be sure to add it to my editorial calendar.
Health
I’ve spent a ton of time this month trying to figure out some health stuff that I have going on. A doctor actually wanted me to go to urgent care yesterday to get some blood work done to make sure that everything was okay. BTW, apparently I have nice big veins which meant that it was easy for the nurse to get blood. I’ve never been complimented on my veins before. I’m very grateful that everything came back normal. I’m also thankful that it’s not anything serious. Will I be dealing with it for awhile still? Absolutely, but it’s definitely manageable.
Figuring out the healthcare system has been frustrating sometimes. It feels like I’m telling each new healthcare professional the same story over and over again. And of course no one ever agrees 100% with what other professionals have told me. It can be tough to feel like I’m not able to access the resources that could help me because I’m not “sick enough”.
I’ve been able to find a few really great people so far though who really get it and I feel like can help. They have experience working with people who are dealing with similar things to what I’m dealing with and it just feels good to be understood. I’m so grateful because sometimes it feels like assumptions are made before I even make it to the appointment. It’s tough when that happens. While I still have a long ways to go to be back to feeling healthy, I feel like I have the right people on my team to make that happen.
