Happy Friday! It’s so close to the weekend that I can almost taste it. I’m looking forward to spending some time outside in the backyard reading over the next few days. I’m so grateful that I have access to outdoor space that I can enjoy. I know that not everyone has that. I hope you have something fun to look forward to this weekend too. We’ve had some hot weather this week, but it’s supposed to cool off a bit this weekend which I’m looking forward to. It’s tough to fall asleep at night when all you can think about is how hot you are.
As usual for Fridays here on Get Fit Fiona, I’m sharing some of my favorite things from the past week. Read on to see what I’ve been enjoying.

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair
I got Estee Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair (affiliate link) in the Build-a-box I ordered from Chick Advisor a few weeks ago. I’ve been using it before bed since I got it. I thought it was time to share how I’ve been liking it so far.

A little goes a long way with this, so you don’t have to use a lot. It absorbs into my skin quickly which is perfect because I’m putting it on right before bed. I don’t want to still have it on my skin and then transfer onto my pillow. My skin has definitely felt softer since I’ve started using it. I haven’t noticed a difference with any fine lines. I am happy with it and it’s a quick and easy step that I can see myself adding to my night time routine long term.
Little Women
The latest movie version of Little Women was recently added to Amazon Prime here in Canada. I hadn’t seen it yet so I watched it last weekend. The 90’s version starring Susan Sarandon and Winona Ryder is my favorite, so I knew that the newest one had some big shoes to fill. I’m happy to say that I really liked it!

I felt like it took a slightly different take on the book and focused on Jo and her writing more than previous movies have. I really liked that the movie makers did that instead of trying to “redo” a previous movie. The timeline jumped around quite a bit compared to the book, though that didn’t bother me. I loved the chemistry that Winona Ryder and Christian Bale had in the 90’s movie. I thought that it would be tough to match that in this one, but I think that they were able to pull it off. Their friendship made sense, and I liked that there was more about Amy and Teddy’s friendship.relationship.
There’s so many things to like about it. I loved all of the costumes! If you haven’t seen it yet and are a fan of the book, I highly recommend it! Even if you haven’t read the book yet, it’s worth it to watch the movie. I think you’ll really like it.
The Institute by Stephen King
I finally got a copy of the ebook of The Institute (affiliate link) from my library this week! I’ve had it on hold for awhile now and I’m so glad that I finally got it. I’m about a third of the way through so far and I’m really enjoying it so far. I love the characters that Stephen King creates – he’s so good at it! At first I wasn’t sure how I would like a book with mostly child and teen characters, but that hasn’t been a problem. I find myself using even five minute chunks of time to get in a little bit of reading because it’s so good.

Here’s the synopsis from Goodreads:
In the middle of the night, in a house on a quiet street in suburban Minneapolis, intruders silently murder Luke Ellis’s parents and load him into a black SUV. The operation takes less than two minutes. Luke will wake up at The Institute, in a room that looks just like his own, except there’s no window. And outside his door are other doors, behind which are other kids with special talents—telekinesis and telepathy—who got to this place the same way Luke did: Kalisha, Nick, George, Iris, and ten-year-old Avery Dixon. They are all in Front Half. Others, Luke learns, graduated to Back Half, “like the roach motel,” Kalisha says. “You check in, but you don’t check out.”
In this most sinister of institutions, the director, Mrs. Sigsby, and her staff are ruthlessly dedicated to extracting from these children the force of their extranormal gifts. There are no scruples here. If you go along, you get tokens for the vending machines. If you don’t, punishment is brutal. As each new victim disappears to Back Half, Luke becomes more and more desperate to get out and get help. But no one has ever escaped from the Institute.
