Today I’m sharing a recap of my workouts and meals from the past week.

I definitely felt closer to the “new normal” this week when it comes to workouts and meals than I’ve felt since the world changed so much a few months ago. I’m still missing my gym workouts a lot, but since they’re not able to happen right now, the next best thing are at home workouts and time spent outdoors. How are your workouts feeling these days? Has it been a big shift for you or are you starting to get into a routine now?

Workouts

I started off the week with an incline walk on the treadmill. It felt really great to get in some cardio. I decided to up the intensity and increase the incline so that I could get my heart pumping. I was craving a tougher workout and that’s exactly what I got.

On Monday I got outside for another walk. It was a bit cloudy but it still felt great to get outside. My neighborhood has some great green spaces that I’m very grateful to be able to take advantage of. Even better? There’s lots of room to practice social distancing and it’s never ever crowded. I know that not everyone has that.

I took Tuesday as a rest day. To be completely honest it felt pretty great to not do anything.

On Wednesday I got back outside for another walk. It was a gorgeous day so I wanted to take full advantage of the sunshine. My neighborhood is on the west edge of the city which means that on clear days you can see the Rocky Mountains. Even though I see them all the time they’re always so beautiful.

Thursday night I wasn’t feeling great. I was dealing with a migraine all day and I just wasn’t feeling very good. I decided to do a favorite yoga nidra on Insight Timer and then go to bed early. I splurged and used all of the props, including a thin foam block, two blankets for some extra padding, and two bolsters. One under my knees and another one under my ankles.

Thankfully I woke up on Friday morning feeling a lot better. Still not 100%, but so much better than the day before. I decided to start off my day with a Barre 3 workout on YouTube.

It was a great 35 minute workout and left me with legs and shoulders that were shaking in the best possible way. I love that barre workouts are low impact and don’t require a lot of equipment. The only think I needed for Friday’s workout was a pair of light weights.

My plan for today’s workout is yoga.

Meals

I didn’t take a lot of photos of my food this week. The highlight of my meals was being able to barbecue a few times over the last few days. It officially feels like summer with here now that the weather is nice enough to consistently cook outside.

My first meal on the barbecue this week were hot dogs. Not very classy but so good and the quintessential summer food.

I made homemade pizza this week as well. I went with tomato pizza sauce, shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheeses, pepperoni, and black olives. It was really good. It was a thin crust pizza so it was perfectly crispy without being too filling.

The other meal I cooked on the barbecue this week was cheeseburgers. There’s just something about cooking up some burgers on the barbecue that makes them taste so good! I paired the cheeseburger with some hard boiled egg whites and coleslaw.

What was your toughest workout this week? Favorite meal? Tell me about them in the comments below.
