Happy Friday the 13th! Hopefully nothing bad happens other than watching a really cheesy horror movie or two. There’s a ton in the Friday the 13th franchise – the last time I checked there were 10+. Really bad horror movies from the 80’s are my favorite and I own a bunch of the Friday the 13th ones. I might have to watch one tonight.

I think this weekend is going to be a pretty quiet one for me. I don’t have a lot planned and we’re supposed to get a bunch of snow over the next few days. I predict good chunk of my time this weekend will be spend at home cozy under a blanket.I’m ready for the cold and snow to be over and for spring to get here.

As usual for Fridays here on Get Fit Fiona I’m sharing a few of my favorite things from the past week. Read on to see what I’ve been loving for the last few days.

Beautiful Day by Elin Hilderbrand

If you follow me on Instagram (if you’re not, you should be!), you’ll know that I’ve been loving Beautiful Day (affiliate link) by Elin Hilderbrand. It’s my first book by her that I’ve read even though I’ve good things about her on Instagram. I’m so glad I decided to take a chance on a new to me author because I’m really enjoying Beautiful Day. I’ve already put a few of Elin’s other books on hold at the library so I’m looking forward to reading them too.

I typically read using the Libby app, which means that most of the books I read these days are ebooks. It actually felt kind of good to be able to hold a physical book in my hands and experience reading that way rather than using my phone to read.

Meals with my family

It’s been awhile since since I last had a meal with my brother and dad and I’m so grateful that it happened on Sunday. We got together for brunch at Mad Rose pub. Not only did it feel really good to spend some time together, but the food was delicious too.

I ordered the classic breakfast that came with scrambled eggs, bacon, toast, and hash browns. I didn’t end up eating much of the hash browns and only half the toast just because it was so much food.

Networking event

On Tuesday night I attended a networking event. The topic was “elevate your brand” and the speaker was great. She was really knowledgeable and had tons of good advice. Being an entrepreneur it feels like you need to be an expert in every single part of business. I’m definitely not an expert in anything other than yoga and fitness (though there’s always more to learn about both of those things), so I’m really grateful for events like the one on Tuesday where people are willing to share their share their expertise.

One of the things the speaker mentioned was that it’s important to celebrate your successes. Not just the big, end of the year goals that you’ve accomplished, but also the little steps along the way. That really hit home for me. I’m a huge advocate of goal setting and working hard to achieve mt goals. But I’m not so good at celebrating those things when I achieve them.

The venue for the networking event was beautiful. How gorgeous is the bathroom? It’s a relatively new space – I think they opened up in the fall – and you can tell that a lot of thought and care went into all the details.
