Another weekend has come and gone and it’s Monday morning already. It still felt like winter here in Calgary – we got some snow on Saturday and it’s been cold. I’ll be very grateful when spring gets here. I’m ready for warmer weather and for the snow to be gone finally.

I bought this top a month or two ago and I’ve been wearing it non-stop. I love the stripes and it has long sleeves so it’s keeping me nice and warm on these cold days. It pairs perfectly with jeans.

Friday was date night so I met up with my boyfriend downtown and we headed to our restaurant, Vagabond, for dinner. I went with my favorite reuben and salad. I know I order it a lot but it’s just so good!

We walked over to pick up Winson, my boyfriend’s bulldog from daycare. We realized that he’d never had a banana before (though he has had banana flavored treats), so I brought one over for him to try out. He was quite intrigued with it while it was still in the peel.

He had to sniff it before he tried it.

And of course a lick was in order before he committed to a bite.

And then he finally took a bite. He wanted to eat the whole thing so I’d say that Winston’s very first banana was a hit. The funny part is that I really dislike bananas. It’s not just the taste, it’s the smell and the texture that I don’t like either. It’s a good thing that I love Winston so much or else I wouldn’t have given it to him.

Since Winston was a daycare all day on Friday, he was pretty tired after dinner. He didn’t last long and ended up falling asleep while my boyfriend and I were watching a movie.

Saturday morning I woke up feeling like I needed a break from my to do list. I had a bunch of blogging stuff that I had planned to get done, but I decided that I could put it off for a day and take a day off. I’m glad that I did because spending a day reading and not doing anything that was work related was exactly what I needed.

I finished reading No Judgments (affiliate link) before lunch. I didn’t have much to go and the end of the book was hard to put down. It was the perfect beach read that didn’t require too much thought to read while I was relaxing.

The most work I did on Saturday was some laundry and prepping some eggs for the week. I like to make a batch of hard boiled eggs in the Instant Pot. I then peel them and store them in the fridge so that they’re easy to grab and eat during the week when I want a snack or to add some extra protein to my meal.

Once I had finished No Judgments I decided to dive into Beautiful Day (affiliate link). I’ve heard a ton about Elin Hilderbrand’s books on social media, so I was looking forward to reading one for myself.

I managed to get through about a third of the book on Saturday. I really like her writing and I can tell it’s going to be another quick read. Sometimes you need those books that aren’t too heavy and you can just enjoy reading.

I finally decided to open the blackberry sangria cider that I had bought a couple weeks ago. The blood orange tangerine one was delicious, so I had high expectations for the blackberry sangria one too. I’m happy to report that it was delicious too.

It was a really pretty color when I poured it into the glass too. Do you like ciders too? Tell me about your current favorite in the comments.

Sunday morning I went out for brunch with my dad and brother. I went with scrambled eggs, bacon, multigrain toast, and hash browns. It was great to spend some time with them and have a good meal at the same time.

I spent the rest of Sunday getting some things done around the house as well as putting this post together. There always seems to be more to do than I anticipate on Sundays to get get ready for the week ahead.
