Happy Monday morning! It’s hard to believe that another weekend is already over. Mine was a good mix of fun stuff and yoga. Read on to find out all the details.

My weekend started off at the gym with a Group Power class. I was really looking forward to it, but it ended up being a less than stellar workout. I felt tired – even using slightly lower weights than I usually use. I know that not every workout is going to be great, but it’s another thing to actually experience it. I’m hoping that my Group Power class this morning will feel a bit more back to normal.

I got an email Friday afternoon that an order I had submitted to the printers was ready to be picked up, so I headed downtown to get it.

I designed some yoga consent cards to use when I’m teaching. One side says no thanks to hands on assists and the other side says yes please. I typically don’t like being touched by teachers in yoga classes when I’m a student, so I can appreciate how it feels to be touched without being asked first.

I had found some similar yoga consent cards online but I wasn’t loving them. I figured I would try designing some of my own and I really like how they came out. If you’re also a yoga teacher and would like to buy them, you can do so here.

Friday night was date night. My boyfriend and I went out for dinner to Vagabond. Vagabond is our usual date night spot and we eat there all the time, but we ordered the pork gyoza for the first time this weekend. They were really good – definitely something that I know I’ll be ordering again soon.

For my entree I got the reuben and a side salad. The reuben on the Vagabond menu is a staple for me and it was just as good as usual. It’s just so good!

Winston, my boyfriend’s dog was at daycare on Friday so he was definitely a tired boy when we got back. Usually he won’t fall asleep when I’m there because he doesn’t want to miss out on anything (even when we’re just sitting on the couch watching Netflix), so we knew he was extra tired when he was completely out. He clearly had fun playing with all of his friends earlier in the day.

Saturday morning I taught a Yoga for Bigger Bodies class. I only had one student so it was a treat for both of us to be able to have a private session for the class instead.

Next week is my last week of teaching in February, so if you’re in NW Calgary and interested in spending an hour on yourself moving and relaxing, be sure to check out my teaching schedule and sign up. On Wednesday at 7 pm I’m teaching an Intro to Yoga class. Here’s what I’m offering on Saturdays:

If you have any questions about the classes feel free to email me and I can answer them for you!

I went out for lunch with my dad on Saturday. We went to Hudson’s because he was craving a good hamburger. I went with the pulled pork sandwich. The barbecue sauce on it was really good. The coleslaw added the perfect amount of crunch to the sandwich.

On Sunday morning I headed back downtown to learn some more yoga philosophy. Philosophy is probably the part of yoga teacher training that I struggled with the most when I did my yoga teacher training. Since the studio I did my teacher training at allows graduates to come back and audit following teacher trainings, I’ve been trying to get in as many of the philosophy sessions as possible.

Today we talked about the history of hatha yoga and how it’s different from other forms of yoga, yoga nidra, and the 5 koshas. It was definitely a lot to wrap my head around, but it was great to be able to hear the content again.

Before heading home to eat lunch I stopped by my boyfriend’s place to get some puppy time in. Winston was all about the extra pets and even made himself at home in my lap.

While I was there my boyfriend gave me my Valentine’s Day treat early – my all time favorite chocolates! Ever since I went to a Lindt store when I was in Switzerland they’ve been my favorite.
