The weekend is nearly here! I’m definitely looking forward to a few slower paced days. I feel like I’ve been on the go the whole week. As for the weekend I’m teaching yoga on Saturday morning (I still have space in next week’s classes if you’re interested – info is here). Then the plan is to spend the rest of my weekend relaxing as much as possible.

Teaching Yoga

I haven’t talked about it much on the blog lately, but I’m so excited to be teaching yoga. It’s definitely taken some time since I graduated teacher training almost a year ago to find where I feel like I should be teaching, but it’s been well worth it.

Teaching outside of studios has been challenging, but I’m slowly but surely figuring it all out. Everything from props to scheduling software to advertising is typically what studios do for teachers, but since it’s just me I’ve had to learn a lot of it myself or pay someone to do it for me in the case of Facebook ads. It’s taken longer than I thought to get everything going, but it’s been so worth it!

Once again, if you’re interested in taking a yoga class with me, you can check out my schedule here. There’s a maximum of 5 students per class, I provide all the props you’ll need for class including blocks, straps, bolsters, and even a yoga mat if you don’t have one of your own. I know yoga studios can be intimidating so I really wanted my classes to be beginner friendly with lots of props, modifications, and be a judgement free space. Making yoga as accessible as possible is something that I’m really passionate about.

Italian sausage, bell peppers, and onion

On Tuesday night I made one of the most delicious meals that I’ve had in awhile. I’m not quite sure why it tasted so good because it wasn’t anything fancy, but it tasted really good.

I cooked up a couple Italian sausages that I had bought at Costco last week and then added a sliced yellow onion and two sliced green bell peppers. I’ve made this meal countless times before cause it’s so easy and requires a minimal number of ingredients. This week is just hit the spot and was so good.

Puppy karma yoga

On Sunday I was lucky enough to snag a spot in a puppy karma class. It sold out so I was very grateful that I was able to go. The class benefited the Animal Rescue Foundation here in Calgary. They brought a litter of 10 puppies to class. Their mom was named Princess Leia, so all the puppies got Star Wars names too.

While there was definitely some yoga that happened during the hour, the puppies were a big distraction. Whenever one would come by my mat I stopped and pet them. The volunteers said that they were surprised at how calm the puppies were with all the people. Apparently they were reaping the benefits of yoga indirectly.

Needless to say the hour flew by. At the end of class when I was in savasana I got a bunch of puppy kisses from one of them. She/he must have seen an easy target with me laying down with my eyes closed. I wasn’t at all mad about it. There’s something about being around puppies that just makes you happy. If you ever have a chance to go to a puppy or dog yoga class I highly recommend it. It’s so much fun even though there’s typically not a whole lot of yoga happening.
