Today I’m sharing some of my favorite indoor workouts.

Good morning and happy Thursday! This week is flying by. Yesterday morning I spent the morning getting an estimate for my car. Us usual it took longer than I thought it would and involved two trips and an email to my insurance agent to make sure that everyone was on the same page.

Yesterday was a rest day so I don’t have a workout to share with you today. On Tuesday I did a Cross Training class at my gym that was all lower body.

I knew when I finished the workout that I would be sore, and I definitely was. I was walking like Frankenstein yesterday. My quads were really sore. Thankfully I’m feeling better today. I haven’t been that sore in awhile.

And now onto my favorite indoor workouts!

It feels like winter here in Calgary right now. We got more snow yesterday and it’s supposed to hit -30 C (-22 F for my American readers) in the next few days. Brr! Today I thought I’d share some of my favorite workouts to do indoors because I for one don’t want to be outside when it’s snowy and cold out.

Yoga

I don’t think it’s a surprise that this is the first thing on my list considering how much I love yoga and I’m a yoga teacher. If you find yourself a great yoga studio and a few teachers that you really connect with, you’ll have a bunch of indoor workouts that you can take advantage of. Are you new to yoga and interested in learning more about it? Check out my yoga page here.

If you prefer to do yoga at home, there are quite a few subscription based options out there. A quick google search will show you a bunch of options, and most will even allow you to do a a trial before committing to handing over your credit card number. If you need some convincing in why you should try yoga, check out this post.

At home workouts

Another option when it comes to indoor workouts is simply workout out at home. There are tons of options to choose from, including workout plans from trainers that are designed specifically done at home, to workouts on YouTube, to cardio if you have a treadmill.

With a few pieces of equipment you can get in a great at home workout. Check out my suggestions here. You can also find my favorite workouts on YouTube. I have an at home workout roundup here. All of the at home workouts that I’ve shared on the blog can be found here.

In addition, there are also some great subscription based workouts that you can do at home including things like Barre 3 (my review is here) and Peloton. Obviously there’s a big difference in cost between those two, so there’s something that will fit in just about everyone’s budget.

Barre

Like I mentioned above, barre is also a great option to do either at home or at a barre studio. I know that there’s quite a few here in Calgary now, and even some yoga classes and gyms are offering barre classes. There are also lots of great options online with YouTube.

Gym workouts

I think the vast majority of indoor workouts happen at the gym. Lots of gym are having deals right now with New Year’s resolutions. Most will allow you to come a few times before committing to a membership to see if you like it. There are so many options when it comes to gyms that it’s worth checking out a few to see where you feel most comfortable and have the equipment that you want to use.

I’ve written a post about getting the most out of your gym membership, which you can find here. All of my gym workouts can be found here. If you’re new to the gym, I wrote a post about gym etiquette 101 that may be helpful for you.

Now that you know about some of my favorite indoor workouts, share some of yours in the comments below.
