The first weekend is 2020 is over and done, and I have to admit that it was a pretty good one for me. It feels like the holidays are “officially” done now and it’s time to get back to the regular schedule and routine. I’m actually kind of craving my usual routine, so it’s a good thing that it’s back to normal around here for me.
Here’s how my weekend went!

My Friday started off with a Group Power class. We did the October 2019 release. I’m glad that that’s the one we’re doing while we wait for the January 2020 release because I really like it. It was a great workout as usual and I left tired and sweaty.
Saturday was date night for my boyfriend and I, so we headed out to Vagabond for dinner. It’s our usual date night spot because it’s close to my boyfriend’s place and the food is always delicious.

We realized that we might eat there a little too often when the server brought over our drinks without even asking what we wanted. Haha, it might be time to switch up where we go for dinner if we eat there often enough to remember what we like to drink.

I ordered the reuben and their house salad. I don’t know what it is about their salad, but it’s always so good! Their dressing has a hint of citrus to it, and I think that might be it. The reuben was bigger than it usually is, so I ended up ditching the rye bread on the second half and just eating the pastrami, sauerkraut, and cheese. Sometimes you just have to make those hard decisions when you know you won’t be able to eat it all.

The Calgary Tower was lit up in blue and purple on Saturday night and looked so pretty. Taking photos at night is hit or miss with my phone, but I really liked how this one turned out.
Winston was at daycare for part of Saturday. He absolutely loves being with the other dogs while he’s there and runs around the whole time. Needless to say he’s usually exhausted when he gets home. He typically doesn’t like to fall asleep when I’m there because he has a major case of the FOMO and doesn’t want to miss out on anything.

Despite not wanting to miss our on anything, he almost fell asleep three times but just as we thought he was out, he’d jump back up again. My boyfriend and I were sitting on the couch watching Netflix, so it’s not like we were doing anything exciting that Winston would have missed out on. One of these days he’ll figure out that I’m actually kind of boring and be able to fall asleep while I’m there.
Sunday morning I was up bright and early to take another Group Power class at my gym. It was great to see a lot of people in class with everyone wanting to make healthy changes in 2020. I know that they get bad mouthed sometimes, but I’m honestly happy to see more people at the gym, even if it means that classes and equipment are busier. Everyone was new to the gym at some point, and being friendly isn’t hard to do.

While I was waiting for class to begin I saw this sign up for a new class (at least to me) that they’ll be doing. I thought it looked interesting, so after the Group Power class I signed up to go one day next week.

I’m not really sure what kind of cross training workout it’ll be because the description wasn’t very, well, descriptive, but I guess I’ll see when I take the class what I’m in for. There’s a maximum of 8 participants per class so I’m already liking that it’s a small class size. I’ll be sure to share how it goes.

For lunch on Sunday I heated up some leftover pork carnitas. I think they were even better the day after than they were the day we made them. They had a bit of a spicy kick to them, but for someone who doesn’t like spicy food, they were definitely edible. I topped the carnitas with a bit of sweet barbeque sauce and they were perfect. I paired it with half a raspberry and white chocolate chip scone and some coleslaw.
I recently discovered that I have access to ebooks on Amazon with my Prime membership. I had no idea that I did, but not that I do, I’m definitely going to take advantage of it!

I downloaded a few books that I’ve wanted to read and when I read the description of Emily, Gone (affiliate link), I decided to get it too because it sounded good. It has 4.4 stars on Good Reads so I’m thinking it’ll be a good read. I started it last night and so far I’m liking it.
Speaking of books, I fell just short of my 2019 reading goal in 2019. I wanted to read 24 books, but I only finished 22. So close, but not quite. I started quite a few ebooks that I wasn’t able to finish before I had to return them to the library, but I’m hoping that I’ll have a chance to finish them this year when my turn comes around again when I’m first on the hold list.
What was the highlight of your weekend? Do you ever take your dog to doggy daycare? Do you prefer physical books or ebooks?
