Hello and happy last day of 2019! It’s hard to believe that I’m counting down the end of 2019 in hours and not weeks anymore. 2019 has gone by so fast.
Today I thought I’d pop in and share a walk I did yesterday with my dad and this morning’s workout at the gym – my last one of 2019!
A Walk in Bowmont
Bowmont is a park not far from me that follows along the river. It’s a really beautiful spot, I’m so grateful to have it so close by. I used to walk there almost daily 6 or 8 years ago, but I’ve fallen out of the habit and now I can’t remember the last time I was even there.
Yesterday I took a rest day from the gym because I decided that sleep was more important than getting in an elliptical workout. I had a hard time falling asleep, so when my alarm went off at 5:30 am I turned it off, rolled over, and went back to sleep for 2 more hours.
While the extra sleep was needed, I still wanted to get out and do something active. I asked my dad if he’d be interested in going to Bowmont for a walk, and he was all about the idea. We headed over mid-morning. Yesterday was a beautiful day to spend time outside – the sun was out, it wasn’t too cold, and there wasn’t much wind.

Right at the entrance to the park we came across this sign. We didn’t see any coyotes yesterday, though I have seen coyotes in Bowmont before. They follow the river into the city and end up in the park.

How can you go wrong with views like this? Even in the winter when everything is covered in snow and there’s nothing green, it’s still so pretty.

We stopped for a quick selfie above the river before heading on for the walk. Despite a few stops to take in the views we covered 4.5 km in 50 minutes. On the way back we walked up a big hill, so I was definitely feeling the squats I did the day before.
New Year’s Eve Workout
This morning I actually got out of bed to go to the gym when my alarm went off. I was at the gym just after 7 am and hopped on an elliptical for 30 minutes. It felt really good to sweat after yesterday’s active rest day.

I covered just under 3.5 miles in 30 minutes. I then spent 15 minutes on the track cooling down. It’s hard to believe that my last workout of 2019 is done – it feels like there should still be a few more months of 2019 before it’s over.
As for celebrating tonight, I think I’m going to wind up just staying at home. I don’t have any plans and to be honest staying at home just sounds like what I want to do. If I don’t go out that probably also means that I won’t make it til midnight. I have no idea how I used to stay up (while being out, no less) so often when I was younger. I definitely can’t do that anymore.
What was your last workout of 2019? Have any exciting plans to ring in the new year tonight?
