Merry Christmas Eve! I thought I’d pop in quickly today to share my day so far and to wish you all a happy holidays.
My gym was open today so I went to get in a cardio workout this morning. I got there not long after it opened and I spent 35 minutes doing steady state cardio on the elliptical. Since the gym is closed tomorrow I thought that I would push myself today. I upped the tension on the elliptical and also challenged myself to go faster than I usually do.

While I definitely felt like I was working harder, it was actually easier than I was expecting it to be, which was a nice surprise. I’m going to have to push myself more often when it comes to cardio workouts. I finished off my cardio with a quick cool down on the track to bring my heart rate back down. I was in and out of the gym in about an hour. It’s hard to go wrong with quick workouts like that.
Before I left the gym I snapped a quick photo of this workout that was posted on a whiteboard on the weight floor. I figured I would share just in case anyone is in need of a workout idea today.

It was a cold morning, so I was bundled up when I left the gym. It’s warmed up a bit since the sun has been out this morning which I’m grateful for. There’s nothing worse than walking out into the cold from the gym when you’re sweaty – it feels even colder.

After getting showered and dressed I headed out to get a few last minute errands done. I thought I had them done yesterday, but apparently not! I stopped by the grocery store and a couple other places to get what we’d need for next few days. I think we’re now prepared.
Yesterday I had stopped by an Italian store in Cochrane, a small town just west of Calgary to get some groceries for Christmas Day. My dad always makes an amazing lasagna, so he needed a few things to make that. I decided to get a Nutella donut while I was there.

I ate it today and it was so good! I haven’t had Nutella in a long time – years probably – and it was so much better than I remember it being. I definitely won’t be waiting years before I have Nutella again. It was definitely one of those splurges that was worth it.
Tonight my dad, brother, and I are headed over to friend’s of the family to spend Christmas Eve together. We’ve been getting together for years every Christmas – probably 15 or so years now. It’s something that we look forward to every year. Tonight should be full of delicious food and lots of games.
I probably won’t be back here posting on Get Fit Fiona until after Christmas, so I want to wish all of my readers a very merry Christmas if you celebrate. I hope you’re able to spend time with some of your favorite people and makes lots of memories over the next few days.
