It’s hard to believe that the weekend is already over. Today I’m sharing some of the highlights of my all too fast weekend including my workouts and how I celebrated the Grey Cup.

Although Friday morning wasn’t technically the weekend yet, I did go to the gym to get a workout in. I arrived in time to take a Group Power class. I shared about Group Power classes here if you’re interested in what they’re all about.

I’ve been using a heavier weight for the squats and it feels so good to be lifting more. There’s just something about doing something that’s hard that makes me feel so strong – both physically and mentally.

Friday night I was treated to a really pretty sunset. The clouds looked like they were made of gold with how the sun hit them. Although the sun sets so early at this time of the year, I’m very grateful for how pretty some of them are.

My Friday night was pretty low key. I finished reading The Mother-In-Law (affiliate link) which I really enjoyed. It follows the story of a family, each of the members of which have a reason to be a suspect in the murder of their mother/mother-in-law.

It was one of those books that kept me guessing right up until the end. I thought I had it figured out at one point but I was so wrong. If you’re looking for a quick read that will keep you hooked from the very beginning, be sure to check out The Mother-In-Law (affiliate link).

On Saturday I was up bright and early to head to the gym for a quick cardio workout. I spent 30 minutes doing some steady state cardio on the elliptical before spending 10 minutes on the track cooling down.

I think I only did two cardio workouts this week. Between rest days and Group Power classes it just didn’t happen any more than that. Cardio used to be my go to workout. I can’t say that I miss it all that much. I’m really enjoying the groove I’ve been in lately, mixing cardio up with lifting and yoga.

I ended up starting to watch Who Killed Little Gregory. It’s a documentary about the true crime murder of a little boy, Gregory, in small town France in the early 80’s. Investigators still haven’t figured out who did it, but all of the former and current suspects have been family members. It’s a winding and confusing story that is so complicated that it’s almost hard to believe that it’s true. I have two more episodes to watch, so it’s fair to say they it was pretty much all I watched on Netflix this weekend.

Sunday morning I was back at the gym for another Group Power class. It was a new to me release so it was fun to change it up a bit. Apparently we’ll be doing this one again which I’m excited about because I really liked it.

The bicep track felt extra hard to me for some reason, which meant that I skipped some reps to give myself a couple quick breaks. I felt frustrated but sometimes you just have to take it a bit easier than you would like. I’m hoping that I’ll be able to do all of the reps for the bicep track today when I had to the gym.

Sunday afternoon was the 107th Grey Cup. The Grey Cup is the championship game for the Canadian Football league. It’s essentially the Superbowl for Canadian pro football. To be completely honest I wasn’t all that interested in the actual football game, though I was interested in the food.

My dad, brother, and I got together for dinner. We ended up deciding on pizza. I also picked up some snacks – chips and dip – but with all the pizza we didn’t end up eating the chips. One of these days I’ll figure out how much food is appropriate and stop buying too much. It was a great way to end my weekend with some of my favorite people.
