I hope you all had a great weekend – I know I did. It was definitely a busy one for me but it was worth it because I got to spend time doing some of my favorite things.
My weekend unofficially started off with breakfast with my family on Friday morning. I met my dad and brother at Sunset Grill for breakfast. It seems to be our go to spot for breakfast lately. I ordered scrambled eggs, pancakes, and hasbrowns.

I couldn’t eat all of it – there was a ton of food – so my dad ended up taking almost half of it home for leftovers. He said that it reheated pretty well and was good the next day for breakfast.

I spent Friday night at home on the couch reading. I’m still reading The Home for Unwanted Girls (affiliate link), so I spent time with that book. To be honest it was the perfect way to spend Friday night because I knew that the rest of my weekend was going to be a busy one.

Saturday morning I was up bright and early to get to yoga teacher training at Passage Studios. I’m auditing the course (which I’m allowed to do because I graduated in March). I’m very grateful that I’m able to sit in on it because I always learn things that I missed the first time around. After completing my 200 hour yoga teacher training I realized how much there is to know about yoga and how little I knew! There’s so much more to know about than just the anatomy and poses.

We focused on the quads and hamstrings and really took our time learning about how they work. As we were going through each muscle in the quads and hamstrings we did poses that focused on them (either stretching or contracting the particular muscle) to really drive home the action of the muscle. That’s how I learn best – being able to learn about something and then put it into practice.
A friend of mine was going to be in town for the weekend and we were able to get together on Saturday night. I hadn’t seen her since I spent a few days visiting her at the beginning of September, so it was great to get in some more quality time and catch up. She brought her oldest daughter with her too so it was fun to spend time with her too. Every time I see her kids they always look so much bigger and have changed so much!
After we ate dinner we played the Box of Lies board game. If you’ve ever watched Jimmy Fallon’s show you’ll know exactly what it is. It was more fun to play than I thought it would be. You’ll definitely have a leg up on the competition if you know the people that you’re playing with really well – it’s easier to figure out if they’re lying or not!
I was very thankful for the extra hour of sleep on Saturday night because I didn’t get home until late on Saturday and I had to be back at yoga teacher training at 9 am on Sunday. The timing of daylight savings worked out perfectly for me.

On Sunday morning we focused on balancing postures and did a restorative practice. We moved a lot and didn’t really spend much time sitting and talking. It’s a whole different kind of learning to actually be moving and experiencing the poses as the instructor tells us about them. I love that he really encouraged us to get out of our comfort zone and try all the modifications that he offered. It’s so important as yoga teachers to know modifications and how to change poses slightly to make them accessible to people in our classes.

For lunch on Sunday I met up with my boyfriend and we headed to Vagabond to eat. I ordered the thin crust Canadian pizza that had pepperoni, bacon, and mushrooms on it. It’s one of my go to items on the menu and Vagabond and it was delicious as usual.
After lunch we took his Bulldog for a walk around the neighborhood. Winston had some extra energy to get out. He even got to meet a hunky who was at the same park as we were. As usual when meeting a new dog there were lots of sniffs and “saying hello”.
My weekend was definitely a busy one but it was doing some of my favorite things – spending time with friends and my boyfriend as well as being immersed in yoga. I have a feeling that today will be all about catching up from the weekend and getting prepared for the coming week. Monday’s always seem to go by so fast for me, and I’m sure today won’t be any different.
