Today is my blog’s 8th birthday. It’s hard to believe that I’ve been blogging here for 8 years already about all things health, fitness, and food.
This is actually my 1200th post which is pretty exciting. When I started writing here I never would have thought that I would have written that much.
Blogging has changed a lot over the last 8 years. Twitter was still relatively new and all the bloggers I followed were on it. Now Instagram is the big thing for bloggers to use.
In 2015 I went back to school for two years to earn a diploma in personal training and get my CSEP personal trainer certification. It was a lot of work (as any time in university will be), but in the end it was so worth it. Read about my experience at Mount Royal University in the Personal Trainer program here.
Two summers ago I took the leap and signed up for my 200 hours yoga teacher training at Passage Studios. It was scary to commit to, and a lot of work and growth while I was doing it, but not that I’m done I’m so glad that I got out of my comfort zone and graduated. Check out my recaps of my yoga teacher training here.
Most recently, I started my own business. I teach private and small group yoga. Starting a business of my own was in the back of my mind for awhile, and actually doing it was pretty scary. I had only taken one business class in all of my schooling, but unfortunately I didn’t learn much from it. Entrepreneurship was a brand new thing for me and was something that was completely out of my comfort zone.
It’s hard to believe that I’ve been blogging on Get Fit Fiona since 2011. So much has changed both personally for me and in blogging in general since then. I’m working in a completely different industry since I was 8 years ago. My switch to fitness was definitely inspired by my blog.
In terms of blogging, It’s not just writing blog posts anymore, but also planning content for Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook. Some days it feels like there’s so much to do, but I honestly love all of it.
Lastly, a huge thank you goes out to all of you, the readers of Get Fit Fiona. My little corner of the internet wouldn’t be much without all of you. I’m so grateful to be able to share a glimpse of my life with you. Reading your comments here on the blog and on Instagram as well as the emails that I get mean so much to me. Thank you for being a part of Get Fit Fiona.
