How is it already September? The Labor Day long weekend unofficially ends the summer here in Calgary with school in full swing now. I feel like I blinked and the summer is over. It felt like it went by extra fast this year. Does anyone else feel like that too?

My long weekend was a pretty relaxed one. It was a good mix of relaxing and half fun and being productive and getting some behind the scenes blog stuff done.

Friday

I didn’t move too far from the couch on Friday night. My boyfriend had recommended Mind Hunter on Netflix to me, so I figured I’d try watching an episode to see if I liked it.

Two and a half episodes later I was hooked. I ended up watching the entire first season (10 episodes) over the weekend – it’s a good thing that I had the extra day on Monday!

Saturday

I made up for my couch time on Friday night by starting off my Saturday at the gym. I spent 30 minutes on the elliptical followed by a 10 minute cool down on the track.

Later on in the day I headed downtown to my boyfriend’s place. We took his English Bulldog puppy Winston, for his afternoon walk together. It ended up being an extra long one because we wanted to try to tire him out.

I took the above picture about half way through the walk and he was still full of energy!

By the time we dropped Winston off at my boyfriend’s place we were starting to get hungry so we walked over to Vagabond to get dinner. I went with the reuben and a tossed salad. They have the absolute best salads there. I think it’s the dressing they use. My boyfriend thinks it’s weird that I like the salads so much at Vagabond but they’re seriously delicious.

We ended up watching Netflix and trying out a new to us beer – this one was a blackberry wheat ale. I can’t remember what it was called, but it was really good.

While the two of us were watching Netflix, Winston kept himself busy playing with some toys. He has a couple rope toys that he likes more than I thought he would. The one in the picture below kept him busy for quite awhile.

Sunday

I was craving a strength workout so I took advantage of a Group Power (my gym’s version of Body Pump) at the Y. I worked extra hard (put some more weight on the barbell for the lower body tracks) so I was sweaty and tired by the time I was done.

My dad and I grilled some bacon cheddar burgers for dinner on Sunday. They were really good and had a ton of flavor. I would definitely get them again. I’ve been trying to eat more protein lately so I had a side of shredded chicken with my burger.

Monday

I decided to skip the gym when my alarm went off on Monday morning. I slept terribly the night before because a big storm went through NW Calgary Sunday night that woke me up. There was a ton of thunder, lightning, and hail. I few times it almost looked like day time outside because of all the lightning.

Needless to say, it wasn’t a very restful night so I turned my alarm off, rolled over, and went back to bed. Apparently I was tired because I didn’t wake up until two hours later. I felt so much better when I woke up the second time.

I spent most of Monday doing laundry and getting some behind the scenes blog stuff done. I updated my private and small group yoga page. If you’re in Calgary and interested in some private yoga and small group yoga classes with a few friends, check out my offerings here.
