Happy Friday to everyone and long weekend for those of us in Canada! It’s a long weekend here in honor of Canada Day on July 1st. I don’t have any exciting plans, but I’m going to thoroughly enjoy the holiday Monday after I finish working at the yoga studio in the morning.

The German Midwife
I recently borrowed The German Midwife (affiliate link) by Mandy Robotham from the library on Libby and I’m really enjoying it so far. It follows a midwife during WWII in Germany who was in a concentration camp for helping Jewish women deliver their babies. She’s then taken from the camp to help Eva Braun deliver her baby.

I don’t want to give too much of the plat away, but if you’re at all interested in that time period I highly suggest you give this book a try. Parts of it are really heartbreaking, but it’s well worth the read.
Photo shoot with Angelique Panther
I had booked a photo shoot with Angelique Panther a few weeks ago and it finally happened on Saturday afternoon. She’s also a yoga teacher and offers photography to other teachers to get content for their websites and promotional materials.
I have to admit that I was a bit apprehensive about doing the photo shoot. I can be so hard on myself in terms of appearance, but Angelique did a great job at making me feel at ease and even comfortable in front of the camera.
If you’re in Calgary and you’re a yoga teacher looking to get some photos if yourself to use for promoting your offerings, make sure you check out Angelique. She was a pleasure to work with and I’m really looking forward to getting the photos back.
Pretty flowers in the garden
Our backyard is so pretty right now. We’ve had a good mix of sunny days and rain lately, so the plants are all really happy. It’s so nice to spend time outside and enjoy the flowers while they’re here – winters can feel really long here in Calgary, so I have to enjoy the nice weather while I can!

All of those plants are perennials so they come back every year without needing too much work. If you’re planning on planting a garden this summer definitely consider going with perennials. They’re so much less work compared to annuals and you’ll end up saving money over the next few years.
