I hope you all had a great weekend. Mine was a pretty good one that involved a visit to a dog park and a few workouts.
On Saturday I headed over to my boyfriend’s place to take Winston, his bulldog for a walk to the dog park. I had never been there before but was really impressed with it. Both entrances were double gates so you didn’t have to worry about anyone sneaking through. Instead of grass there was turf which made picking up messes really easy.

Winston clearly enjoyed his time there running around with the other dogs. He met two other bulldogs while we were there.
After dropping off Winston we walked over to Greta Bar. Neither of us had been there before. It’s basically a bar meets arcade. They had probably 30 different games throughout the space.

The menu was really eclectic and was inspired by street food from all over the world. It was tough to make choices when it came to ordering – I would have liked to try just about everything they offered.

We ended up getting three things and shared them – the smoked meat poutine, spam sliders, and a steamed hot dog with coleslaw. They were all delicious. The smoked meat on the poutine was really food. I didn’t think I would like the spam slider, but it was better than I was expecting. And the steamie was really tasty too.

I didn’t end up taking any photos of the arcade games, but they had everything from Pac Man to pinball to air hockey. There was a good variety of games to pick from. I’m definitely not an arcade game person, but I did have fun even if I didn’t score very well on any of them.

We ended up going to Greta Bar around 6 pm so it wasn’t too crowded and we didn’t have to wait to play and games. Whenever I drive by it later at night though there’s sometimes a line outside, so go early if you don’t want to deal with crowds. I’d definitely recommend checking out Greta Bar if you’re looking for a fun night out.

We spent the rest of the night back at my boyfriend’s place watching Netflix and playing with Winston. I sat on the floor and held this bone for him while he chewed it for an hour. I’m pretty sure that he would chew it for as long as I would hold it.
Sunday morning I headed to the gym bright and early to get in my first workout of the week. I stayed up too late Saturday night, so it was really hard to get out of bed when my alarm went off.

I managed to talk myself out of leaving my comfortable bed though and I got in a 30 minute workout – 20 minutes on the elliptical and a 10 minute cool down on the track.
Sunday afternoon I helped out again with outdoor yoga in Baker Park. The weather was absolutely perfect for it. It was sunny with a few clouds in the sky so it wasn’t too hot but it was definitely nice enough to be outside.

Classes are by donation and today’s organization that received the money was Survive and Thrive, who provide programs for young adults 18 to 40 who are cancer survivors. It was great to get in some yoga and do something good for the community.

When I got home on Sunday I was able to spend some time in the backyard reading. There’s just something about being out there in the sun reading that feels so good. I’m definitely going to spend as much time as I can out there this summer. I’m going to miss it over the winter when it’s cold and snowy.
What was the highlight of your weekend?
