I hope you all had a great weekend like I did. I’m going into this week feeling refreshed and full of motivation to get all the things done. I’m going to share some of the highlights of my weekend here.
Date Night
Friday night was date night with my boyfriend and his 8 month old Bulldog puppy, Winston. He got a sweet potato chew which he’s eating in this photo. It didn’t last long so he must have liked it.
For dinner we made some vegetarian kale and chickpea balls. They were better than I was expecting them to be, though they definitely needed some dip because they were a bit dry.

Afterwards we watching Rim of the Earth on Netflix. It was a fun action movie to watch that didn’t require a lot of concentration on a Friday night. There was also a lot of playing with the puppy throughout the night. He likes lots of attention and I’m more than willing to give it to him!
Consignment Store Finds
I got a text on Friday night that the consignment store that I recently discovered was having a sale this weekend – 20% off the whole store. I can’t resist a good deal so I headed to the store on Saturday morning.

I ended up buying this super soft Nike hoodie that I almost got the last time I was there. As soon as I saw that it was still there I knew that I was probably going to buy it. I wasn’t very good at picking sizes, and only a few things that I took into the dressing room fit.
In addition to the hoodie, I also got a Guess wallet and a wide brimmed straw hat. I don’t think the wallet had ever been used as there was absolutely no wear on it whatsoever. It looked brand new to me. Score!
I was actually looking at sun hats online this week, so when I saw one at the consignment store I had to see how it looked on in the mirror. I’m not usually much of a hat person (I think I have one or two baseball caps), so I wasn’t sure how I would like a straw hat. It was a super good deal so I decided to get it. Even if I only wear it this summer, I’ll get my money’s worth out of it. I ended up wearing it to outdoor yoga yesterday (more on that below).
The Yoga Shala, where I first discovered yoga years ago had a free nidra class and open house afterwards Saturday afternoon. Even though I’ve only been doing nidra for less than a year, it’s really grown on me, so I knew that I wanted to go.
The class was absolutely packed. It was so cool to see the community at the Shala show up and celebrate. The teacher who led the class was great and I felt so great when the class was over.
Saturday night I had dinner with my brother and dad. We ordered from Big T’s Barbecue on Skip the Dishes. They’re known for their Barbecue in Calgary. I think the last time I was there was years and years ago, so it was a nice change.

I went with the chicken sandwich which was a barbecued chicken breast with barbecue sauce on a bun with may, lettuce, and tomato. It was pretty basic but tasted so good. The barbecue sauce wasn’t too sweet, so it was perfect. I definitely won’t let years go by before I eat there again.
I started off my Sunday at the gym with a cardio workout on the elliptical. I’m still dealing with a sore knee (boo), so I decided to do a really short workout. I spent 25 minutes on the elliptical followed by 10 minutes on the track for a cool down.

I’m hoping that another low intensity week along with icing my knee a few times a week will help. My knee isn’t getting worse, which I’m very grateful for, though I want to get back to normal.
I went to another yoga nidra class on Sunday at Yoga in Bowness. I’d never done a class with that teacher before, but her nidra really reminded me of one of my teacher’s from yoga teacher training. I talked to her after class and it turns out that she’s really good friends with the teacher from yoga teacher training. The yoga community in Calgary is such a small world sometimes.
Yesterday afternoon I went to outdoor yoga in Baker Park. I’m helping out Kristen with the classes. I’m so excited to be involved. All the classes are by donation, with the donations going to a different organization each week. Yesterday they went to the Breaking Free Foundation.

The weather was absolutely perfect. It was sunny with a few clouds in the sky, so it was warm without being too hot. There was also a breeze so it was really nice out.
We’ll be doing yoga most weekends throughout the summer. If you’re in Calgary and interested in coming out, check out the Facebook event and come join us. We’d love to have you! I’ve just added a teaching schedule page so you can keep up to date on where I’m assisting or teaching yoga. Be sure to follow me on Instagram too, as I’ll be sharing classes that I’ll be doing on there too.
What was the highlight of your weekend? Were you able to get out and enjoy the sunny summer weather?
