Did this week feel like a long one for anyone else? It felt like it just kept going and going. I’m definitely happy that the weekend is here now.

Tomorrow I’m starting off my 30 day meditation challenge. If you’re interested in taking part, check out yesterday’s post. I’m really looking forward to getting back into the habit of meditating on a daily basis.

If you’re in Calgary I’ll also be helping out with yoga in Baker Park. It’s supposed to be 27 C on Sunday, so the weather is going to be beautiful. If you’re in NW Calgary and you want to get in some yoga on Sunday afternoon, check out the Facebook event I linked to above. The class is by donation, with a different organization receiving the donations each week.

Catching up with a former boss

Yesterday I met up with an old boss to get coffee together. We sat and talked for an hour and it felt so good to catch up and hear what’s going on in her life. She’s finally decided to retire and I’m so excited for her. I know that it’s going to be a big change for her, but she’s worked really hard for a long time and I’m glad that she’ll be able to spend time doing what she wants to do now.

Food scale

I bought a food scale on Amazon last week and it’s been a game changer in terms of figuring out servings in the kitchen. I decided to get a digital one so that I can take advantage of different units and the tare feature (I can zero out the scale after putting a bowl or plate on it and just measure the weight of the food and not the plate or bowl).

Instead of just estimating a cup or a 1 inch piece of something, I can now figure out how much of things I’m eating as well as how many calories it is. It makes tracking my food a million times easier. I was on the fence about getting one for a long time, and now that I’ve used it for a bit I’m so glad I got one. Just in case you’re in the market for one too, I got this one (affiliate link) and it was really affordable.

Consignment Store Finds

Every once in awhile I’ll check out some thrift stores to see if I can find any good deals. The last really great one I found was a Fossil tote bag. I discovered that right next to one of the thrift stores that I check out regularly is a consignment store.

I decided to pop into the consignment store on Monday when I was at the thrift store and I was really impressed. They had quite a few nice bags, and I ended up buying this Karl Lagerfeld tote (I got a great deal on it). There’s one teeny tiny scuff on one side, but other than that it looks perfect. I also picked up a fleece lined zip up hoodie from The North Face. Since it’s lined it’s super cozy.

And just to make sure that you’re starting your weekend off right, here’s a photo of Winston the Bulldog puppy. He’s 8 months old now but I’ll always be able to call him a puppy, right?
