I had a really good weekend – I hope that you all did too! Mine started off with some relaxing on the couch reading on Friday night and ended with some yoga on Sunday.

Friday afternoon I headed over to the yoga studio where I work and participated in a photo shoot for the studio. We essentially had a couple teachers take us through a yoga class while a photographer was in the studio taking photos. It ended up being a great practice even though technically it was for the photo shoot. It was a really great way to start off the weekend.

I spent Friday night watching Blue Bloods on TV and then finishing up reading The Women in the Castle (affiliate link). It was really good. If you’re a fan of historical fiction – especially books that are set in WWII, I highly recommend it. Someone suggested it to me (I wish I could remember who), and I’m so glad that they did.

I started my Saturday off with a cardio workout at the gym. I spent 40 minutes on the elliptical doing steady state cardio followed by a cool down on the track. It was surprisingly empty at the gym for a Saturday – I was surprised that there were so few people there. It was a nice treat.

Saturday night was date night for my boyfriend and I. We decided to have a night in and cook up dinner ourselves instead of going out. My boyfriend had bought some dumplings from Costco that he wanted to try out, and I contributed some veggies for a side.

They were the bibimbap dumplings from Bibigo and I was pleasantly surprised at how good they were, considering that we cooked them from frozen. I would definitely get them again for when I’m feeling lazy when it comes to making dinner.

After dinner we watched a movie (Idiocracy – such a dumb movie but at least it didn’t require much thought to watch) while Winston, his bulldog puppy hid a new treat in several spots around the condo. I was sitting on the floor, leaning against the couch and Winston his it between me and the couch twice, under a table, and in a couple corners. It was so funny to see him wandering around with it in his mouth, trying to find the perfect spot.

When I left the house on Sunday morning I was greeted with snow. It definitely doesn’t feel like May yet. I’m more than ready for the snow to be done for the season and to put my boots away until fall. I’m more than ready for spring!

Sunday morning I decided to head out to get some work done at Starbucks. There’s just something about being away from distractions at home that makes coffee shop work sessions so productive! I wish I could get that much done at home.

After Starbucks I headed over to The Yoga Shala to take a beginner ashtanga class. Class was packed (I think it was due to the snowy and cold weather outside). The teacher always says that the vinyasas between the seated poses are optional. I usually do some of them and then rest for some one them. Today I think I did nearly all of them. I was feeling it and I just wanted to do them, which isn’t always the case.

It was a great class. I worked hard, got super sweaty, and had a great time. There’s just something about the ashtanga practice that just feels to good to me. I’m so grateful I found yoga when I did.
