Sunday

I started off my week of workouts with a beginner ashtanga class. Even though it’s a beginner class, I left tired and really sweaty. It was a tough practice but I stuck with it and I’m so glad I did.

Monday

At the gym I hopped on the elliptical for 35 minutes for a steady state cardio workout. I walked for 10 minutes on the track for my cool down.

The workout flew by because I was listening to a really great retro hip hop playlist. I was in the zone.

Tuesday

I went to an Ashtanga Unwind class Tuesday evening for my workout, which was essentially a flow and restore class. The first, flow part of class was a very abbreviated primary series of Ashtanga yoga.

It felt so good to work hard for the first part of class and then relax for the last part. There’s just something about the combination of the two that feels great.

Wednesday

When I got to the gym on Wednesday morning I decided to do a steady state cardio workout on the elliptical. I did 35 minutes on the elliptical. It felt so good to sweat. My cool down was 10 minutes of walking on the track. I was in the zone for this workout too and it went by really quick.

Wednesday morning I went to a gentle flow and restore yoga class. We spent the first part of class gently moving into the practice before we did some back work, including back bends and twists. We ended the class with some really restful restorative poses. It felt so good to just be present.

Thursday

I went for a walk with my boyfriend and his bulldog Winston. We ended up walking for about an hour. By the time we got back to the block that they live on it was pretty clear that Winston was tired. He had slowed down and his tongue was hanging out.

Friday

My last cardio workout at the gym was on the elliptical again. I spent 30 minutes on the elliptical and spent 5 minutes cooling down by walking on the track.

Saturday

Today I’m considering going to a yoga class. My left hip has been feeling tight lately, so I’m hoping that some stretching will help that.
