Happy Monday and welcome to a new week! I’m definitely feeling empathy for the people who were dealing with the polar vortex last week – we’re in the middle of a cold snap here right now. As a result of the cold, my weekend wasn’t very busy.

I started off my weekend with a date night with my boyfriend. When I got to his place we started cooking up a couple pizzas for dinner. we went with a proscuitto pizza and a plain cheese pizza. They were both pretty good.

After we had eaten, we took his four and a half month old English bulldog Winston to a puppy socialization class. He had a lot of fun running around playing with the 4 other puppies who were there. It’s so funny to see them all run around and play with each other. They all looked like they had a lot of fun.

As you can see by the tongue, he was thoroughly worn out by the end of the hour long class. Apparently he was pretty calm and chill on Saturday, so playing with the other dogs was better than any walk we could have taken him on in terms of working through his energy.

My first full day of the weekend was a pretty laid back one for the most part. It was really cold and snowy outside, so I had absolutely no interest in leaving the house. As a result, I stayed home and I got a bunch of blogging work done and I read The Witch of Willow Hall (affiliate link).

My brother came over on Saturday night so that we could celebrate his birthday with my dad. Since it was his birthday, he decided that he wanted Chicago Deep Dish pizza for dinner. After wards we had some delicious chocolate birthday cake from Costco.

It’s hard to believe that my little brother is 33 years old now!

I was considering going to one of my favorite ashtanga classes on Sunday morning, but I had absolutely no motivation to venture out into the freezing cold tundra that was Calgary. It was even colder on Sunday than it was on Saturday, so I decided to stay close to home again. It’s way too cold to leave the house when it’s -35 C (-31 F for my American friends).

Instead of going out, I opted for a space heater, a blanket, and The Witch of Willow Hall which I ended up finishing. I’m very clearly not much of a cold weather person. I can’t wait until it warms up a bit.

Sunday afternoon I spent some time studying the English and Sanskrit names of poses for an upcoming test that I have for yoga teacher training. I’m very grateful that the Sanskrit is starting to make more sense to me. When I first started yoga teacher training it felt so foreign to me.
