It’s hard to believe that we’re already mid way through October and Halloween is next week. I had a really fun weekend that was the perfect mix of getting things done and relaxing.
Friday
I spent the day getting my first aid re-certified. I’m very grateful that because it was a re-certification it was only one day instead of two if I had let my certification expire. I’m glad that I got to refresh my knowledge (especially when it could potentially save a life), but it was a long day. Practicing CPR was definitely harder than I remember!
I spent Friday night on the couch in my pajamas watching Blue Bloods. Is anyone else happy that Jamie and Eddie are finally together now? It felt like it was a really long time coming.
Saturday
I stayed close to home on Saturday and got a bunch of laundry done on Saturday before I headed over to my boyfriend’s place for date night. We made chicken quesadillas for dinner which turned out really good. We dipped them in salsa and sour cream.
We ended up watching Central Intelligence with The Rock and Kevin Hart. It was funny and didn’t require too much thinking. I always forget how small Kevin Hart is – especially next to The Rock.

Since my boyfriend had his birthday a few days before, we splurged on a fancy bottle of beer – Midnight Bramble from Cascade Brewing. We split it because it was such a big bottle. We both liked it, though it was more sour than we were expecting. That was fine by me though because I really like sour beers.
Sunday
I got up early to make cupcakes for my mom’s birthday on Sunday morning. She requested vanilla cupcakes, vanilla frosting, and sprinkles on top. The cupcakes were really easy to make because I used a boxed mix and premade frosting. They still tasted good though and my mom liked them.

I started watching The Haunting of Hill House on Netflix. I’m a huge fan of both the book by Shirley Jackson and the original black and white movie from 1963. If you’re looking for a scare, watch that movie. It’s scary because you don’t see anything – no ghosts, gore, or monsters. Instead you imagine what’s the scariest thing for yourself. The movie remake from 1999 relies too much on bad special effects for it to be scary.
After watching the first episode of The Haunting of Hill House on Netflix I wasn’t sure if I would like it because it’s so different from the book and original movie. I watched two more episodes on Sunday though and I’m hooked. They did a great job with the characters and story lines. While it’s not as creepy as the book and original movie, it still has a few scary spots.
