Long weekends are the best! I know it’s only one extra day away from work, but it somehow makes all the difference. I hope you were able to enjoy the extra day off too yesterday.

Friday

It was a long week at work, so I was looking forward to keeping it low key on Friday. I was thinking of making cookies while I was at work, so on my way home I stopped by the grocery store to get a couple ingredients to make cookies. At the last minute I decided to add butterscotch chips instead of chocolate chips, and it was a seriously delicious idea. The cookies turned out so good!

I spent Friday night on the couch watching Netflix. It was just what I needed to relax. I watched a couple episodes of The X Files. I loved watching it as a teen when it was on TV the first time. I forgot how cheesy they were though. Or maybe it’s just the fact that I’m watching them as an adult instead of a teen.

Saturday

I ran some errands with my dad Saturday morning. We made a couple stops, the last one being at the grocery store to pick up a few things. We ended up going to a different store than I typically go to, and it felt kind of weird not knowing where to find things.

I did an at home ashtanga practice during the afternoon. It felt so good to be on my mat and just be present. That’s one of the things that I love about yoga. Whatever else I have going on, I can count on focusing on my breath and postures. All the things that I’m stressing about can wait until after I’m done my practice.

Saturday night was date night. My boyfriend and I decided to stay in and make chicken wings. We made half of them with the ranch Shake N Bake flavor and they turned out to be my favorite. Definitely try out that flavor.

We also watched the first episode of Castle Rock. My boyfriend had heard about it, and since I’m a big Stephen King fan, I was hopeful that I would like it. We both agreed that we’re hooked after the first episode. I’m looking forward to watching more of Castle Rock.

Sunday

I went to my first ashtanga class in a studio in a really long time Sunday morning. I used to practice regularly at The Yoga Shala, but I’ve only been a few times since I went back to school. My budget just didn’t allow for both a gym membership and classes at a studio.

The class was with a teacher than I really like and it was such a great practice. It felt good to be back there – the sense of community at the studio hasn’t changed at all. It was a busy class even though it was a long weekend.

Monday

I slept in until 7:30. Usually I’m up pretty early, so sleeping in until then felt pretty luxurious. I must have needed the sleep. As a result I got to the gym an hour later than I was expecting. I ended up doing a quick 30 minute steady state workout on the elliptical. It felt good to get moving and sweat.

I spent the rest of the day cleaning and getting organized for the week. I considered going to a yoga class after dinner, but I was still sore from Sunday’s practice, so I decided to skip it.

What was the highlight of your weekend? Have you watched Castle Rock? What did you think of it?
