I usual Friday Fashion here on Get Fit Fiona, today I’m sharing some of my favorite things.
Is anyone else excited about the long weekend? Monday is a holiday here in Canada, so I don’t have to be back at work until Tuesday! These long weekends sprinkled throughout the summer and such a nice way to break it p a bit for me since I’m not taking any time off or going on vacation this year. I only have one thing on my calendar this weekend, and that’s puppy yoga tomorrow morning! My boyfriend mentioned it to me last weekend, and I knew I wanted to sign up for it. I’m super excited and looking forward to combining two of my favorite things – yoga and puppies.
Orphan Black
A friend of mine recommended Orphan Black, a TV series to me after we had talked about the shows that we had each been liking lately. I saw her again on Monday at a birthday party, and she was kind enough to lend me a few seasons of Orphan Black that she owns on DVD.
To be completely honest I wasn’t sure what to expect from it because I hadn’t heard about it at all other than from my friend. I’m a few episodes in so far and I’m really liking it. I don’t want to say too much about it to give anything away, but if you’re looking for something new to binge watch, give Orphan Black a try.
StepBet
A month or so ago I signed up to do another StepBet. I had done my first one back in January and had fun, so I thought I’d do another one. The basic premise is that you commit to step goals for 6 days per week for 6 weeks. StepBet creates your goals based on your average number of steps (my goals are 9,300 steps 4 days per week and 11,500 steps two days per week). They’re totally doable, but they also keep you accountable.
The buy in is $40, and at the end of the 6 weeks if you’ve achieved your goals you get your $40 back and split the rest of the money with other winners that the people who didn’t complete the StepBet. Last time I think I ended up with $50 total – so I made $10 and I was able to be a bit more active. I’m currently at the end of week 5 of 6, so I’m so close to winning!
Yoga on YouTube
Studio classes aren’t in my budget right now, but that doesn’t mean that I can’t practice yoga at home. This wrist free yoga class is perfect for people like me who have bad wrists and struggle with all the down dogs and planks in yoga classes. This yoga video is aimed at runners, but I think it would also be great for anyone with tight legs. It was a tough one for me and I was definitely sore the next day.
Have you ever done a StepBet before? Do you do workouts on YouTube?
