Today I'm sharing my goals for August.
It's already August! This summer is seriously flying by. Before I know it, it's going to be fall. As usual for the beginning of the month, I'll be writing about my goals for August. First I'll recap my July goals and how they went, and then share about what I want to accomplish in August.
Track food in My Fitness Pal each day in July
While I didn't do every single day (I think I missed 5 or so throughout the month), I still tracked what I ate most days. It's so easy for treats to add up throughout the week, so it's good for me to stay accountable, even if it's only to myself. It's easy for servings to slowly get bigger if I'm not measuring them consistently. It's also good for me to look back through the day of my food and see that if I've already had three cookies, I probably don't need anymore that day.
Make 4 new recipes this month
I only ended up making 2 new recipes this month, but they were both delicious ones! The pork and peanut dragon noodles were amazing! If you're looking for an easy to make recipe with a kick of spice, I'd highly recommend these noodles. There were also a minimal amount of ingredients, but they were still full of flavor. I also made stir fry beef noodles. Apparently I was on an Asian food kick this month. I swapped out the rice noodles for fettuccine because that's what I had in the pantry. It still turned out great. Once again it was an easy recipe to make but it was still full of flavor.
This goal was a huge success for me. Because I knew that this was a goal for me this month, I was a lot more conscious of everything (and I mean everything) that I bought this month. I asked myself if I really needed it, and if I decided that I didn't, I didn't buy it. I also ended up making some extra money this month, so that was a nice bonus. I was even able to add some extra money to my savings account, over and above what I typically deposit each month.
And now onto my August goals!
Bed by 9:30 during the week
Lately my bedtime has been slowly creeping later and later. Being someone who needs 7 or 8 hours of sleep each night, and also gets up at 5 am to workout most mornings, that makes for missed workouts because I've pressed snooze one too many times. I'll allow myself to read past 9:30 until I'm sleepy, but I have to be in bed by 9:30.
Choose healthier snacks
It's so easy to grab a granola bar or something pre-packaged when I'm looking for a snack. I don't want anything big and I may not have time to make anything. As a result, my snacks haven't been very healthy lately. I want to change that in August. I want to make healthier snacking decisions. The plan is to go with vegetables and fruits as often as I can. They'll provide me with all kinds of good vitamins and nutrients that I need.
