How do weekends always seem to fly by so quickly? Even though I didn’t do anything too exciting, it was nice to have a couple days away from work. Today I’m sharing some highlights from my weekend.

Friday

I started work a few hours early, so that meant that I was able to leave early too. Getting a head start on my weekend was well worth getting up a few hours early.

I decided to lay low on Friday and spent the night on the couch. I watched a couple episodes of Law and Order SVU on Amazon Prime. There’s been so many seasons of that show that there’s no way that I can remember all of them, even though I’m pretty sure that I’ve seen a lot of them.

Groceries

Saturday

I started my Saturday off by doing some errands, one of which was getting groceries. I got ingredients for a couple different meals: barbequed hamburgers, beef stroganoff, and pork and peanut dragon noodles. I also picked up some brussels sprouts to make balsamic glazed brussels sprouts. I’ve made them before and they’ve been amazing, so I figured I’d make them again.

Sweet Cherry Fiasco Gelato

Saturday night I spent at my boyfriend’s place for date night. We made dinner – 2 flat breads that we split and this Fiasco Vanilla Bean BC Sweet Cherry gelato.  The flat breads were really good despite the fact that they were premade and we only had to pop them into the oven to cook them. The gelato was delicious too. I think I’ve loved all the Fiasco flavors that I’ve tried so far. If you’re in Calgary and looking for some gelato to try, go with Fiasco!

We ended up watching an episode of Westworld (we have two more episodes to go before we’re done season 2), and Isle of Dogs. At first I wasn’t sure about Isle of Dogs, but it grow on me as the movie went on.

Sunday

I was up early again on Sunday despite being able to sleep in. I was wide awake at 6 am, and after trying to fall asleep for half an hour, I decided to just get up and start my day. I got some housework and laundry done before working on my blog and working on this post.

The Little Book of Hygge

I ended up taking a nap on Sunday afternoon which felt pretty good. It was one of those that was long enough to leave me feeling refreshed but not too long that I felt groggy when I woke up. I started reading The Little Book of Hygge (affiliate link). Although I’m not very far into it yet, I’m liking it. I’ve heard really good things about it, so I’m hoping I continue to like it.
