As usual for Fridays around here on Get Fit Fiona, I’m sharing some of my favorite things from the past week.

Friday Favorites

Happy summer! Summer officially started yesterday here in the northern hemisphere, so that makes today the first full day of summer. I’m very grateful to be as far away from the snow and cold as possible right now. In the usual Friday fashion over here on Get Fit Fiona, here are some of my favorites.

Barbecued hamburgers

To continue with the summer theme, it definitely feels like summer now that I’m barbecuing hamburgers. There’s just something about making on the grill that makes them taste so much better. My perfect toppings are mustard, relish, and ketchup. I always go with relish over pickles on hamburgers. I know it’s essentially the same thing, but for some reason relish just works so much better than pickles.

Bolthouse Smoothie

Bolthouse Farms Smoothies

These Bolthouse Farms smoothies are splurges for me, as I typically drink mostly water with the occasional beer or cider on the weekend. I’ve tried a few flavors now and Berry Boost is definitely my favorite. If you’re looking for something tasty to drink the next time you’re at the grocery store, try one of these.

Stretching

One of my goals for June is to get in more stretching. My hips are notoriously tight, so I’ve been working on them specifically. While there’s still more than a week to go in June, I’m already feeling so much better. It’s amazing the difference a few minutes of stretching on a daily basis will making. This will definitely be one of those habits that I continue to do even after the month is over.

Pure Protein Protein Powder

Pure Protein Protein Powder

I’m sure I’ve posted about this protein powder before, but I wanted to share again how much I love it. The flavor is so good (it tastes like vanilla birthday cake) without being too sweet. It contains 25 grams of protein, 9 grams of carbs, and 2.5 grams of fat. It mixes perfectly into smoothies, which is how I typically like to eat it. My go to smoothie recipe is frozen berries, yogurt, a splash of orange juice, and of course protein powder. It’s my go to post workout protein powder. You can find Pure Protein (affiliate link) on Amazon.

Drake’s I’m Upset music video

A cult classic here in Canada has been the Degrassi series. It started in the 80’s with Kids of Degrassi, Degrassi Junior High, and Degrassi High which ended in the early 90’s. I remember coming home from school and watching it. Degrassi was revived in 2001 with Degrassi: The Next Generation. While my favorites are the ones from the 80’s, I also watched The Next Generation. Drake was actually on that show for quite a few years and in his most recent video, I’m Upset, he did a reunion of sorts. It was so cool to see all the actors and actresses grown up. You can find all of the old episodes of Degrassi on YouTube now.
