Another weekend is done. They always seem to fly by so fast. Mine was a pretty good one – I hope yours was too. I’m going to be sharing a recap of my weekend, my workouts from last week, and finally the recipes that I made.

Weekend

Friday

 Pizza

I was feeling lazy and didn’t want to cook so I ordered dinner on Skip the Dishes.  I got pizza from my favorite neighborhood pub. I was craving all the meat, so I went with their meat lovers pizza. It was delicious as usual. I drank a White Rabbit Radler with it. It’s such a great summer time drink. Definitely try it out if you happen to find it.

White Rabbit Radler

After dinner I decided to catch up on some blog work while watching The Good Wife on Netflix. I’m now about half way through the series. If you like great acting and smart writing (and really, who doesn’t) you need to give The Good Wife a try. I’ve also been watching The Staircase on Netflix. I’ve been hearing about it everywhere online, so I thought I’d give it a try. Have you started watching it too?

Saturday

Grocery Shopping

I spent the morning getting some errands done and one of them was grocery shopping. I somehow timed it perfectly so that I didn’t have to wait in line to check out. I don’t think that’s ever happened before at the grocery store, so I definitely appreciated it.

Bolthouse Smoothie

I ended up deciding to splurge on one of these smoothies while I was at the grocery store. They’re so good, but I typically don’t buy them very often because I drink water 90% of the time. It was just as good as I remembered though, and well worth the extra calories.

I had The Atomic City Girls (affiliate link) on hold as an ebook at my library, and I got an email that I finally made it to the front of the line, so I downloaded it and started reading it right away. So far I’m not a huge fan of the writing (I’m hoping that it’ll get better), but the story is pretty good. I’ll be sure to share my thoughts on it once I finish it.

Sunday

I spent some time with my dad in the morning for Father’s Day. He seemed to really like the gift I got him (money to spend at his three favorite restaurants), so I’m hoping he’ll enjoy eating out over the next few weeks.

I spent the afternoon getting some things done around the house like dusting and vacuuming. While it’s not much fun actually doing those things, it always feels so good once it’s done. I listened to some old school New Kids on the Block while cleaning, so that made it go by a bit faster. It’s hard to believe that they’ve been around for 30 years now. That makes me feel so old. I also spent some time putting this post together.

Workouts

Sunday

Sunday Elliptical Workout

I spent 30 minutes on the elliptical at the gym. I did steady state cardio and then walked the track for my cool down afterwards.

Monday

After I finished work on Monday I headed over to my favorite park and spent 35 minutes walking around. It felt so good to go there to decompress after work. I need to do that more often.

Tuesday

My first rest day of the week was on Tuesday.

Wednesday

I ended up doing an upper body workout from home on Wednesday before work. I actually did this one and it left my arms feeling like jello. If anyone tries to tell you at at home workouts can’t be effective, they’re wrong.

Thursday

I made my way to Bowmont park again after work. I ended up tackling three big hills while I was there. My lungs felt like they were on fire once I had reached the top of the last hill.

Friday

My workout on Friday was more cardio at the gym. The strap on my Fitbit had finally broken (it was loose earlier in the week), so it felt kind of weird to be working out at the gym without it. I’m so used to checking my heart rate on it throughout my workouts. I spent some time chatting online with Fitbit support and it turns out that it’s still coverec by warranty, so they’re sending out a new strap to me. Woohoo! I should be able to use my Fitbit again by the end of the week.

Saturday

My last rest day of the week was on Saturday.

Food

Beef stroganoff

I know that I make this dish a lot, but it’s so good, easy to make, and it’s easy on the budget. I usually get 5 meals out of this recipe, so it’s great to make at the beginning of the week. You can find the recipe that I use here. I think the only change that I make to the recipe is to add sliced mushrooms – mostly because I think that beef stroganoff isn’t really stroganoff without the mushrooms.

Chicken?

I know I made another recipe mid week, but I can’t remember what it was. Maybe it was chicken? I looked through the photos on my phone thinking that I may have taken a photo of it, but no luck. Whatever it was that I made, I couldn’t have been completely amazing or really bad, or else I would have remembered it.

Delivery pizza

I got a couple meals out of the pizza that I ordered on Friday night. I always reheat leftover pizza in the oven rather than the microwave because I love the crunchy texture that the oven gives it over the sogginess of the microwave. It definitely takes longer than just popping it in the microwave for 30 seconds, but those 15 minutes in the oven make all the difference in my opinion. It’s well worth the longer wait.

This week I’ll be making sloppy joes (the recipe I use is here), honey mustard pork chops (which I’ve made before and is delicious), and pasta with meatballs.

What was the highlight of your weekend? Your favorite workout? Favorite meal?
