Today I’m sharing a few things from the past week that are my Friday favorites. This week they include a music service and a really good book.

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday! This week felt like an extra long one after last week’s short one due to the Victoria Day long weekend. I’m glad that the weekend is just about here. I’m ready for a few days away from work. Next week is going to be a busy one for me again, so I’m hoping that I’ll be able to take it easy on Saturday and Sunday to prepare. Do you have any exciting plans  or will you be laying low this weekend like I am?

In the usual Friday fashion over here on Get Fit Fiona, today I’ll be sharing some of my favorite things from the past week.

Tomatoes Hardening off

Gardening

This weekend I’m hoping to get the rest of my plants in the ground. Since the weather has been getting warmer and (hopefully) the last frost is behind us, I’ve been hardening off the plants that I started inside from seed – mainly tomatoes, but I also have butternut squash and watermelon plants too. I can’t wait to be able to eat fresh tomatoes and peas straight from the garden. They always taste so much better than anything that I can find at the grocery store. It will feel a bit more like summer with the garden completely planted and green.

Spotify Premium

Spotify Premium

I signed up for a Spotify Premium account last weekend. I went with their special 3 months for $0.99, so I figured that I couldn’t go too wrong with it. I mean that’s less than one song on iTunes. So far I’m really loving it. As a premium subscriber I can download albums and playlists, which has been great for when I’m on the go and don’t have access to wifi to stream music. I also don’t have to listen to any ads! I didn’t find them particularly annoying before (I mean, I was paying nothing), but now that I don’t have them anymore, it’s pretty nice. I also have access to Amazon Music, but I don’t think you’re able to download music from it. It’s great from when I’m at my computer working, but if I’m out and about and listening from my phone I don’t want to have to worry about using my data.

Re-vamped Get Fit Fiona email list

I’m changing the format of my email newsletters, so make sure that you sign up here. I send out emails twice a month about everything health and fitness. If you’re a current subscriber, they’ll be a bit different, so make sure you’re on the list. I’m really excited about it!

Discovering a delicious new Chinese restaurant

I ended up order dinner for my parents one night earlier this week on Skip the Dishes. I think Skip the Dishes is a Canadian company, but it’s similar to UberEats, in that you order food from a restaurant and a courier delivers it to you. We’ve had it here in Calgary for a few years now and it’s awesome.

The Chinese restaurant that we usually order from isn’t on Skip the Dishes, so we ended up trying a new place. I ended up trying a piece of ginger beef once it had been delivered, and it was pretty good. My parents both said that the chicken fried rice and wonton soup were both delicious, so I have a feeling they’ll be ordering more from Wok With Dave (I love that name).

Rumors by Anna Godbersen

I started a new book this week, the second in The Luxe series. Rumors (affiliate link) picks up where The Luxe ends off. If you’re a fan of Gossip Girl or Sex and the City, I think you’ll like these books, set in New York City at the turn of the 20th century. I’ve read the series once before and remember liking it, though I don’t remember many of the details. It’s just as good as I remember. I’ve been reading it before bed and I always have to talk myself into putting it down because I keep telling myself I’ll just read one more chapter, but that turns into 4 or 5 more chapters.
