Today I’m sharing some of my favorite things from the past week.

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday! Is anyone else as excited about the weekend as I am? While I don’t have anything all that exciting going on, I do have a few fun things on the agenda. I’m looking forward to a date night with my boyfriend. I’m also going to be heading downtown to check out 2018’s first Food Truck Frenzy. I’ve been to a couple frenzies before (here and here) and I’ve always had fun and discovered some delicious food. I’m looking forward to checking out Mighty Halifax Donair. DO you have any fun plans for the weekend?

Beaver Builder

Beaver Builder

Like I mentioned in this post, I recently discovered Beaver Builder. It’s been great for allowing me to change the look of the pages on my blog without having to deal with code. While I know a little bit, it usually leads to me becoming frustrated because I’m don’t know the details that I need to do what I want. With Beaver Builder I don’t need to know any code, and the changes I made are displayed in real time using drag and drop tools. It makes it so easy! If you have a blog too and are looking to make some design changes, I would highly recommend you checking it out if you’re not confident in your coding abilities. Check out my Workouts page to see what one of my revamped pages look like.

Jersey Shore

I probably shouldn’t admit this, but I watched a few seasons of Jersey Shore. It was a huge guilty pleasure for me. Apparently I had been living under a rock because I had no idea what MTV was bringing the cast back for a reunion season. I’ve watched the first few episodes, and it doesn’t look like anyone has changed much. There’s still lots of drinking, nights out, and drama. It doesn’t look like any of the guys have aged at all. And there’s no way the Ron is over Sammy. All of his constant talk about her proves it. Tell me I’m not the only one watching.

Farmer's Market

The Calgary Farmer’s Market

This past weekend I went to the Calgary Farmer’s Market, one of Calgary’s indoor year round farmer’s markets, for the first time in a long time. I hadn’t realized that it had been that long, but I’m so glad that I went. I came home with a great stash of food – everything from Montreal style bagels to fruits and vegetables to some vegan dumplings and peanut satay sauce. I love being able to shop locally and support the producers that actually grow and make the food. I’m looking forward to more outdoor farmer’s markets now that it’s finally starting to get warmer outside and feel like spring. I know I’ll be back to the Calgary Farmer’s Market sooner rather than later.

Warmer Weather

Speaking of weather, it’s finally starting to feel like spring here in Calgary! Even though we had another dump of snow earlier this week, complete with a heavy snowfall warning. Thankfully there’s a limited amount of snow in the long range forecast, which makes me very happy. While I know that that can change, it feels so good to have a warm and sunny forecast for the foreseeable future. This winter has felt really long and cold with lots of snow, so it’s a refreshing change to hopefully have most of that behind us now. This weekend is supposed to be pretty nice, so I’m excited to be able to spend some time outside.

Conspiracy Theories Podcast

Conspiracy Theories podcast

I’m able to listen to podcasts while I’m at work, so I’m always on the look out for new ones to listen to. A month or two ago I discovered Conspiracy Theories. They’ve covered everything from Area 51 to the Illuminati to chemtrails. While I’m a pretty straight forward person and believe that the simplest explanation is usually the correct one, it’s interesting to hear the alternative explanations that people have come up with and the origins of the conspiracy theories.

The two hosts always give some background on the topic, sticking to the facts, and then they share the conspiracies and rate how likely it is that they’re true. If you’re at all interested in conspiracy theories I highly recommend checking out this podcast.
