Did this past weekend fly by for anyone else too? I can’t believe that it’s already Monday morning. Did you do anything to celebrate St Patrick’s Day on Saturday? I ended up getting a green Irish cider to celebrate.
My weekend was a productive one. I got a bunch of blogging things done that were on my to do list, so it felt really good to get them done. I finally feel like I’m caught up with all the blogging tasks. It kind of feels like they snuck up on me, and before I knew it my to do list was a mile long.
Now onto the recap of my weekend!
Friday
My morning started off with a snow day. Friday morning was snowy, icy, and just plain miserable outside. It definitely doesn’t feel like spring out there despite the fact that it’s mid March right now. Since I didn’t go to work (which I’m very thankful for since I work outside), I started my day off with an at home yoga practice. I didn’t want to brave the streets to try to get to the gym, so I figured doing a workout at home would be my best bet.
Lunch ended up being really tasty. Taco salads can sometimes get a bit boring, but this Taco Salad Skillet recipe from Budget Bytes was really delicious. It contained ground beef, black beans, tomato, green onions, corn, and of course a bunch of spiced to get that taco seasoning flavor. I served it on romaine lettuce and topped it off with some sour cream and guacamole. It was easy to make and so tasty – I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a quick all in one meal.
My afternoon was spent blogging and I got a couple posts scheduled and off of my to do list. Being able to cross things off my list always feels so good. By the time dinner rolled around I heated up some leftovers and watched a rerun of Blue Bloods that I hadn’t seen before. Is anyone else still watching it?
Saturday
I started my morning off by reading some a couple chapters of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. It’s my all time favorite Harry Potter book because of Serius and Neville.
For lunch and Saturday, I went out to a neighborhood pub called The Last Straw with my dad and brother to get some green beer for St. Patrick’s Day. I was impressed that they had a special St. Patrick’s Day menu and even live music. I almost got the corned beef on rye sandwich, but at the last minute I changed my mind. My brother got it though and it looked pretty good.
My brother got a Guinness (I’m not even sure if you can make that beer green because it’s so dark). My dad got a green beer, and I got a green Magners Cider. It’s Irish so I think I deserve extra St. Paddy’s Day points.
Once I got home I spent some more time on some behind the scenes blog tasks that I had been putting off. Of course once I got started on them they weren’t nearly as bad as I was expecting them to be. For dinner on Saturday I heated up some leftover beef stroganoff and watched last week’s episode of Madam Secretary. Is anyone else enjoying Sara Ramirez’s character as much as I am?
Sunday
I woke up on Sunday in the mood for a barre workout, so I found one on YouTube to do. It felt so good to work up a sweat and get moving. I ended up doing a lot of sitting on Saturday so it felt really good to start off my day with some exercise.
I was somehow in the mood to clean after I showered, so I went with it and got some dusting, vacuuming done as well as a few other things. There’s something about having a freshly cleaned space that always tends to make me more productive. It just feels good.
Lunch and dinner were both leftovers (but still oh so delicious). I spent the afternoon reading. There’s something that feels so good starting the week out doing something I enjoy like reading – especially when it’s Harry Potter. My plan for Sunday night (I’m finishing this post after dinner on Sunday), is to watch the new episode of Madam Secretary and then go to bed early.
