Before I get into my March goals, I thought I’d recap how my February ones went first.

Get more comfortable doing videos.

Umm, yeah. So this goal totally didn’t happen this month. I kept thinking that I would make a video as soon as I had a great idea, but that idea never hit me, so I never did it. I think I just need to bite the bullet and actually make the video, whether it’s as good as I think it should be or not. Clearly waiting for right moment means that it’s never going to happen.

Read at night until I’m tired.

This goal was a huge success. I suppose it also helped that I was on a good book streak in February. I read The Girl on the Train, A Secret Kept, and The Other Story. If you’re looking for something to read, I would highly recommend all of them. That brings my total of books read in 2018 to 7. I’m nearly 30 percent of the way to my goal of reading 24 books in 2018. At this rate I may need to up my goal. I’ve borrowed the Big Magic ebook from my library that I’m excited to dive into next. I’m also in a book club that will be discussing Braving the Wilderness by Brene Brown in March.

Get back on track with the gym.

Gym Elliptical

This goal was another success. I got myself back to the gym and back to my regular routine. I think the hardest part about getting back there regularly was just going consistently for the first week or so. Once I was back in the habit, it was easy. It was just getting to that point that was tough.

Have at least 5 blog posts scheduled.

This goal didn’t happen either. While I had great intentions, it just felt like there was always something that came up, or else something that I was working on ended up taking more time to do than I was anticipating. While it would have nice to get ahead of schedule, it’s also not the end of the world that it didn’t happen. I still got all my posts published that I wanted to write, so at the very least I accomplished that.

And now for my March goals!

Self care every single day.

Self care has slowly but surely been making an appearance in my world. Whether it’s hearing about other people doing it and reading their blog posts about it, or seeing it on Instagram. I’ve really been taking it heart and I’ve decided that I want to make it a habit. Self care for me can be anything from meditating (I love the Headspace app), going for a walk in my favorite park by the river, or watching an episode of Gossip Girl on Netflix when I feel like I “should be” working instead.

I know that when I’m in a good place mentally, I’m able to be more productive and successful. I think taking a bit of time out of my day, every day, to focus on myself and do something good for myself will really help. A couple days ago I had to stop by the grocery store to pick up a prescription. I had to walk past their cut flower display, and I noticed that their tulips were looking really pretty, plus they were on sale. Once I got my prescription I decided to get two bunches of tulips – one for my mom and one for me. My mom was surprised and excited to get them, and it felt good to make her day. Mine are sitting on my desk and they make me smile every time I look at them. I can’t even remember the last time I bought myself flowers even though I know that I enjoy them a lot.

Create video content.

Live I mentioned above, I think I need to let go of the idea that I need the perfect idea to start making videos, and just start. I really want to start adding it to bot my blog and social media, but I’m thinking I’ll start small with Instagram stories or Facebook live. It’s easy to get overwhelmed when I start researching how to do something new, so I think starting with something that short and not intimidating is the way to go.
