Office Christmas Party

While this is definitely one of those light hearted, silly movies that you have to have low expectations with, it made me laugh when I watched it. I’m a fan of TJ Miller (silicon Valley) and Olivia Munn (The Newsroom), so I thought I would give it a try, and I’m so glad that I did. If you’re looking for a not at all serious movie that will make you laugh, give Office Christmas Party a try.

Christmas baking

I’ve started doing the Christmas baking this year. So far I’ve made shortbread cookies and chocolate peanut butter cereal bars. I have a list of things I only make at Christmas, besides the shortbread and cereal bars, it also includes sugar cookies, gingerbread cookies, cranberry poundcake, and Chex mix. I’m not sure how much more I’ll make this year, but I’m happy with the start I have already.

Flora by Gucci

Flora By Gucci

I can’t remember if I’ve ever mentioned it on the blog before, but Flora by Gucci (affiliate link) has been my go to perfume for the last few years. It has floral and citrus notes and it perfect to wear year round. I typically don’t like scents that are too heavy, but this one is just right. I’ve been enjoying it more lately and I just wanted to share it in case anyone is in search of some perfume for Christmas. Head over to your local Sephora to try it on.

2018 goals

Over the last week or two I’ve been working hard on setting some goals for 2018. It’s pretty exciting to be laying out what I want to accomplish in the new year. It feels like a fresh opportunity with so much potential. On the blog front, be on the lookout for some training plans as well as online personal training. I’m super excited to be able to offer both these things in 2018.

Small independent coffee shops

With all the studying I did for my Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology exam that I took a few weeks ago, I spent some time at various coffee shops studying. On some days I got my best studying done out of the house and away from the distractions at home. I re-discovered Cafe Fresco during some of these coffee shop study sessions. It’s bigger inside than it looks from the outside, which means that there’s plenty of tables to pick from. They even have a cozy fireplace. They have some amazing drinks, and the staff are always super friendly. While there’s closer coffee shops to me, I like the feel of Cafe Fresco.

Christmas Classics playlist on Spotify

This week I discovered the Christmas Classics playlist on Spotify. If you’re a fan of classic Christmas carols, make sure you give it a listen. Some of the artists include Brenda Lee, Mariah Carey, Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Elvis Presley, and Nat King Cole. It even includes the Carol of the Bells version from the Home Alone soundtrack. Carol of the Bells is my all time favorite Christmas carol.

Woman with a Secret by Sophie Hannah

Woman With A Secret

Woman with a Secret was the first book picked for a book club that I’ve joined that’s just started up. It’s not a book that I would typically read, but I really enjoyed it. Woman with a Secret (affiliate link)  is about the murder of a controversial writer. The book follows one of the main suspects and the investigators as they figure out who the culprit is. I thought Sophie Hannah did a great job with the characters. They were all interesting and I wanted to know more about them, even the one character that I really didn’t like. I’m looking forward to see what the other ladies in the book club thought about it.
